Heaven at Home is an in-home hospice service that attends to companion animals in need of aid during end of life transition. All services are provided by a licensed veterinarian in the comfort of your home. This allows for a comprehensive evaluation of your pet’s condition in their familiar environment.
Hospice services are indicated for geriatric pets or for pets with a terminal condition when you want to maintain your pet’s optimal quality of life for as long as possible. We can assist with a peaceful end of life transition that may include palliative care, pain recognition and management, fluid therapy, wound care, nutrition management, administering medication and other supportive care that does not necessitate a hospital setting. We provide information on the disease process and what to expect next.
In-Home euthanasia is an option many people consider. We can help you evaluate the need for this difficult decision. Our full euthanasia service includes:
Sedation and euthanasia for a painless passing
The opportunity for you and your family to be with your pet in their favorite spot throughout
Assistance with after care and commemoration
A follow up consultation and resources on grief and pet-loss support, as needed
Avoiding pain and suffering is the most important thing to pet owners. Many people ask, “How do you know it’s the right time?”
You know your pet best and we can help you identify markers such as:
Changes in appetite of thirst
Decreased social interaction
Changes in temperament
Development of incontinence
Inability to stand or walk on their own
Loss of interest in doing the things they love
In order to aid in the evaluation of your pet, Heaven at Home uses a quality of life scorecard. If you would like to read more about using the scorecard or see other helpful resources, please visit our website.
At your election, we are happy to work in partnership with your pet’s primary veterinarian to ensure continuity of care. This helps formulate a well-informed palliative care plan tailored to your pet’s unique health history. We then keep your veterinarian apprised on your pet’s treatment plan and status throughout the process.
Improved quality of life and comfort while your pet is receiving palliative care
A familiar, relaxed environment
Privacy for you and loved ones
The opportunity for your pet’s story to end peacefully at home
