My husband and I were able to get away for a few days and have been exploring Charleston SC 🌴🌙
We ate at a restaurant called Poogan's and learned that Poogan was the little white dog who lived there and greeted everyone as they came in. He became quite the local celebrity 🤩 There is a beautiful mural of him right by where he is buried.
We also went on the USS Yorktown and learned about Scrappy. A few sailors had been in town and noticed this stray dog. They decided to sneak him on the ship in a trash can and hope he would stay hidden til they were well out to sea. Their plan worked and Scrappy was well loved and basically became a mascot for them.
I thought it was so fun to hear these sweet stories and just be reminded of how special our pups are 🤎

K9 Kuisine's opening day was a year ago, and I can't believe how quickly it has gone 🤯
THANK YOU SO MUCH to those who have supported and encouraged us. Family and friends, and now so many new faces and furry friends we've met along the way 🤎
We are excited for what the future holds for K9 Kuisine, but today, we look back on this past year and want to express our deepest gratitude to all of you.
I am humbled by our growth and appreciate all the positive reviews and feedback we've received.

What happened??!?

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., 2024 -- The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) announced that its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will not be renewed when it expires on Oct. 1, 2024. MOU 225-07-7001, which outlines the two organizations' responsibilities for defining animal feed ingredients, has been in place for 17 years.

"AAFCO believes that its ingredient definition process has been a shining example of successful collaboration and partnership between states and the federal government," said Austin Therrell, executive director of AAFCO. "Although we are disappointed that the MOU is not being renewed, we are committed to being a conduit between the FDA and state regulatory programs, and to our work to provide standardization to the animal food industry."

The FDA will continue to accept AAFCO Feed Ingredient Definition requests until the MOU expires. AAFCO investigators require roughly 30 days to prepare ingredient definition requests for the FDA, so AAFCO will stop accepting requests on September 1 in order to submit all definition requests prior to the October 1 expiration.

AAFCO and the FDA are independently working on plans that will provide a seamless transition and continue to support the U.S. animal food industry. The FDA is also evaluating its animal food ingredient review authorities and processes to determine if changes are needed to better serve public health and ensure new ingredients have a predictable path to market. Further details about the transition will be shared by both organizations in the coming weeks.

"This decision opens the doors for AAFCO to look at new and innovative solutions in the ingredient space, and to seek out additional partners that can provide strong, science-based guidance to our state officials," added Therrell.

This could be potentially good because the FDA has been misusing it's powers and making it extremely difficult for good quality new dog food to be placed on the market. FDA also was extremely biased towards natural and raw dog food as they construed and scared the public with the fear of raw as it relates to humans.

The ending of the agreement could also prove disastrous if AAFCO goes unchecked and the leadership will be able to drive any agenda the super powers wish.

More will be coming out later this year but here at K9 Kuisine we are excited for possible positive change in the dog food industry!

Happy National Dog Day to our Bandit 🖤
He is a beautiful golden retriever/collie mix and almost 3 years old.
Our kids love him like crazy.
Bandit went from having 5 acres to run around on to being in a camper for the summer, and he's been a trooper 🙌

As much as I hate to admit it, the fact that I have 2 kids starting school next week made me realize how quickly summer is coming to a close 😭
We have had such a great season - we are truly thankful that, despite the circumstances that lead us to being full time campers, we have very much enjoyed it and made life long memories 🧡
