Los lagos is going to feature our beloved boarders each month !!
Our horses and boarders are what make the facility great 😊!!
Meet Roy and Christy , and their fabulous 4 horses !!

We are Roy and Christy Eidem! The U.S. Coast Guard moved us to California in 2016 from Virginia for a 3 year tour. Prior to the move, we came out house hunting…for our horse, Carter. He’s our retired AQHA show horse and he’s pretty special to us. He’s a “try his heart out for you” kind of guy. Not bringing him with us was not an option, so the barn had to be just right. Los Lagos Equestrian had that friendly caring vibe from the moment we stepped out of our rental car and we looked no further. We’ve also never looked back. Nine years later we’re still here! In the fall of 2023, we added another horse to the family with Potato Chip - also an AQHA retired show horse. We weren’t looking for another, but when a trusted friend (Lisa Bradley) called and asked if we had any spare cash, that he was in need of a new home with his owner getting out of horses all together, we went to see him…he came home the next day. And once again, we’ve never looked back. Roy has since retired from the military and flies commercial, giving him more time off. Riding together in the arenas, or teaching the boys how to relax out on the trails is where you’ll find us. It’s a true joy to share the horses in such a beautiful environment. I should say that Potato Chip’s name is actually Chip. It would seem that horses are like potato chips. You can never have just one…

Which brings us to the other chips in the bag, Trey and Freaky (didn’t I tell you??). They are our two active show horses. Both are Quarter Horse geldings we compete with on the AQHA circuit in and out of state. Roy and Trey bring it to the Western All Around events. While Christy and Freaky dress it up in the Hunter Under Saddle, and (new this year) Western Pleasure classes. Freaky is also learning to navigate the trail pen and is turning out to be quite handy at it. Like their above brothers, they are both kind sweet boys.

So, based on our experience, when you find your favorite snack bag and flavor, you should buy the party pack!! In fact, the next horse should probably be named “Snax”! Everyone needs one! And if you can enjoy it in a beautiful outdoor setting with friends, so much the better. ❤️

What a amazing story of our talented , amazing Dressage trainer Liz Hendrix
Her passion for this sport and horses is unmistakable!!

When the creative equestrian Elizabeth “Liz” Britten Hendrix’s health forced her out of the saddle, she found a new way to connect with the art of dressage.

A self-taught artist, Liz, 50, had rarely picked up a paintbrush in years – her career as a professional dressage instructor/trainer had kept her too busy – but the lingering effects of a bout with the neurological disorder Bell’s palsy drove her to seek another way to indulge her equine passion & to earn income.

Meet our Eventing Trainer Alicia Swinton
Come join her team !!!

Alicia Swinton is an established 3 day eventing trainer based at Los Lagos Equestrian Center, in
Granite Bay, CA.
She is an accomplished rider through the preliminary level in eventing, has a USDF bronze
medal, and has schooled intermediate. Alicia has won multiple high points, the SF jumper
classic, and been awarded grants recognizing her contribution to the sport and her program
developing riders. Alicia is known for her positive training methods that help horse and rider
achieve their goals.
Over the past 15 years, Alicia has produced many successful riders. Her students have won
USEA and USDF year end division awards, high point awards and much more. Whether in the
show ring or out, no goal is too small.
Alicia started riding at 6 years old, under USEA hall of fame trainer Yves Sauvignon. At 22, she
diversified her training by working with world champion reining trainers and natural
horsemanship coaches, as well as other 5* eventers.
This diverse education helped her become the trainer she is today. In 2009 she opened her own
riding school and training program. Her training style combines classical methods with modern
techniques, with a strong emphasis on proper horsemanship and care. She encourages riders
to understand their horses, the bio-mechanics of riding and set goals. T ogether they make a
tailored plan for each individual horse and rider, to meet those goals, in a supportive and fun
atmosphere along side the entire ASE team

Los lagos Equestrian is constructing tack lockers for each mare motel stall. Each locker is designed to accommodate both English and western gear. We are working diligently to implement changes that benefit both horse and rider. Stay tuned for additional exciting changes.
Stalls and stalls with paddocks are available in the new training barn.
