Meet our Pets of the Week Nyla and Stinker! Shelter Friends is sponsoring 1/2 of their adoption fees.
🧡 Hi, I’m Nyla! I’m a 3-year-old girl weighing about 55 pounds. If you’re searching for a spunky, playful, and outgoing companion, I might just be the perfect match! I’m a friendly, fun-loving dog who makes new friends in no time.
I arrived at the shelter as a stray, so my past is a bit of a mystery. However, I’ve shown the staff here that I get along well with other dogs and am quite the social butterfly.
I’m spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on parasite prevention. You can take me home for just $87.50, but be sure to mention this ad.
🧡 Stinker is a 3 year old male kitty. He is about 15 pounds and was surrendered due to changes in previous owner's health. Despite his silly name, he is said to be a nice kitty who enjoys being indoors and outdoors. He really likes to bat around toy balls and has lived with children and other cats. He hasn't lived with dogs. He is litterbox trained. His favorite spots to hang out are on the bed, or in the sunshine.
Here at the shelter he is a little shy and is coming out of his shell.
I'm fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. I am $90 to bring home. But mention this ad and only pay $45.

They are available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter.

❤ A huge thank you to Roe Motors for their continued sponsorship.
Find our Pets of the Week on 98.3 KLDR, 94.7 KRRM and KAJO - 99.7FM.
If you are interested, please call the shelter at (541) 474-5458. You can view more adoptable pets at www.jocoshelter.com/adoptions. Walk-ins are welcome, however we highly recommend calling first to check on availability and location (some animals may be offsite or unavailable). Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times, especially for dogs.
The Josephine County Animal Shelter is located at 1420 Brookside Blvd across from the airport in Merlin. Hours are 10-4, Monday -Saturday.
They are closed 12:00-12:45 for lunch.
Thank you

Meet our Pets of the Week Yakko and Nelly! Shelter Friends is sponsoring Yakko’s entire adoption fee and will pay half of Nelly’s fee. Be sure to mention this ad to get half off Nelly’s adoption fee!
🧡 Meet Yakko! This 3 year old boy is about 88lbs. He is a gentleman with a kind demeanor and pretty nice manners. He has a goofy personality when he lets his guard down. He has earned an A for his leash manners, as he walks very nicely even though he is a big, strong boy! When it comes to other dogs, he has done well with most dogs he has met here at the shelter. He can be a little serious at first, and prefer polite intros (vs. rowdy/playful intros). He is used to sharing his home with other dogs. He will be a loyal companion for a lucky person!
I'm fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. It is $175 to bring me home! We are sponsoring her entire adoption fee.
🧡 Nelly is an adorable, playful little female kitten who is eagerly waiting to find her forever home. At just three and a half months old, she is full of energy, curiosity, and affection, making her the perfect companion for anyone looking to add a bundle of joy to their life. Whether she’s chasing after toys, exploring her surroundings, or curling up for a cozy nap, Nelly is sure to bring endless smiles and love into her new home.
Nelly is fully prepared for her next adventure! She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is up to date on all her parasite preventatives, ensuring she is healthy and ready to join your family. The adoption fee for Nelly is $120, a small price for the immense joy she will bring.
Even better, you can adopt Nelly along with another furry friend and pay just one adoption fee! Imagine the fun of having double the cuddles and double the playtime as these little companions grow up together.

They are available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter.

Friends, we need your help!
Although we’re thrilled that 13 dogs from Josephine County Animal Shelter have found their forever homes, the shelter received another 40 dogs this week. We need help in covering adoption fees through this Wednesday. Can you help continue this mission?

If you’d like to contribute, please donate here on this fundraiser or you can donate directly here https://savethewhiskers.org/donate/. Your kindness makes all the difference!

Thank you for helping us give these dogs the second chance they deserve. 🐶💕

After only a couple hours at his foster home Nighthawk has already made a great impression. He's getting along very well with the resident dog and has already staked his claim to the bed by the picture window. 😅
His foster mom says he's polite, goes outside to do his business and is 100% a hunk of love!
Shelter friends is still sponsoring dog adoptions and if you are interested in meeting this gem of a senior dog please call the shelter to make arrangements to meet him as he is currently in a foster home and not at the shelter.

Two of the Shelter Friends board members, Raleigh Smith and Tammy Moore, were invited and honored to speak before the Caveman Kiwanis club this morning. They presented information about who we are, what we do, our mission, how we partner with the Josephine County Animal Shelter and a variety of ways in which people can be involved and how our donation based non-profit allocates funding that directly benefits the animals at the shelter. We always welcome invitations to speak to groups in our community! If you would like us to present information to your group or organization, please reach out to us!
And thank you again Caveman Kiwanis for the invitation to join your meeting this morning!

Meet our Pets of the Week Hera and Big Papa! Shelter Friends is sponsoring Hera's entire adoption fee and will pay half of Big Papa's fee. Be sure to mention this ad to get half off Big Papa's adoption fee!
🧡 Meet Hera, a playful and petite 54-pound Doberman mix! This sweet girl knows how to sit and is a big fan of treats. Hera gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and has been friendly with children as well—though she'd be best suited to families with older, steady-on-their-feet kids since she can get bouncy when excited.
Hera’s playful energy extends to her love for toys, especially the squeaky ones! She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and fully up-to-date on parasite preventatives. She’s ready to bring joy and fun to her forever home! We are sponsoring her entire adoption fee.

🧡 Meet Big Papa, an irresistibly adorable 6-month-old kitten with a heart full of curiosity and a personality that’s just as soft as his fur! This little guy is always eager to explore his surroundings, making every day an adventure as he discovers new nooks and crannies. With his plush, silky coat and big, expressive eyes, he’s impossible to resist when he’s snuggling up for cuddles.
Big Papa is not just about lounging around, though—he has a playful side that shines whenever toys are around! Whether it's batting at feathers, chasing after balls, or pouncing on a squeaky mouse, he’s always ready for a good time. This playful yet affectionate boy would make the perfect companion for someone looking for both a cuddle buddy and a fun-loving friend.
Big Papa is already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and fully up-to-date on his parasite preventatives. His adoption fee is $90, but mention this ad and you can bring this sweet boy home and make him part of your family for only $45. He's ready to fill your life with purrs, playtime, and plenty of love!

They are available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter.

🐾🧡 World Kindness Day: Be the Voice for Those Who Can’t Speak 🧡🐾

Today is World Kindness Day, a perfect reminder that even the smallest acts of compassion can change the world—especially for our furry friends. 🐶🐱

Being an animal advocate means standing up for those who can’t speak for themselves. Whether it's rescuing, fostering, adopting, or simply showing kindness to a stray, every act of love helps make the world a kinder place. 🐾✨

Let’s use today to remind ourselves of the power of kindness. If you see an animal in need, lend a hand. If you have the heart to give, consider adopting or supporting our mission to partner with the Josephine County Animal Shelter. Together, we can make a big difference, one kind act at a time. 🧡

Do you believe in miracles? We sure do! Every day, we see the difference YOU can make in the lives of animals. Check out our different options to donate.
