This Veterans Day, we’re celebrating the incredible service and sacrifice of our veterans. Thank you for your courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting our country. ❤️💙

In the spirit of giving back, we’re highlighting our Shelter Friends Pet to Vet Program! 🩺🐕 The Pet to Vet program is in honor of John Hoffman, a longtime supporter of Shelter Friends who had a vision of uniting shelter animals with veterans that had a need. He recognized how a cat or dog can help alleviate some of the anxiety, depression, or PTSD issues that many of our military veterans may face. This supporter wanted to sponsor these adoptions as well as miscellaneous supplies that may be needed, such as food, bedding, a leash, etc. He merely wanted to help a veteran out that has a need and would benefit from this gift.

As we honor our nation’s heroes, let’s also remember the four-legged companions who can offer unconditional love and comfort to those who have served. 🐾❤️

We are OVERFLOWING! Starting November 12th, Shelter Friends will be covering all dog adoption fees in hopes of getting our pups Home for the Holidays.

That's right - dog adoptions are FREE starting Tuesday until further notice. Please help share the word so we can clear some kennels!

We are closed on Monday for Veteran's Day, and will look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

We are so excited to share this! This is an art project that Ms. Crocker's second grade classroom at Lincoln Elementary school did to help promote the adoptable dogs and cats at Josephine County Animal Shelter! These one-of-a-kind artwork pieces will be on display at the Josephine County animal shelter and if you adopt one of these animals you will get to take home the artwork. Help us in sharing and look for more to come! 🧡

Similar to children in schools or daycare, animal shelters are at a higher risk for spreading and acquiring infectious diseases due to the volume of intakes and unknown histories of the animals that arrive. In addition to protecting the animals that arrive at our shelter, protecting the people who care for them is important too. Do you or do you know someone that might have unwanted scrubs? The Josephine County Animal Shelter sure could use them! Here are some examples of protection that they are looking for.

Yep, that’s right, the shelves are stocked! Thanks to all our generous financial donors we were able to send $800 worth of pate cat food to the Josephine County Animal Shelter. In addition, thank you to everyone who dropped cans of food off at the shelter and those that shared our fundraiser here on Facebook! We would say it was a success. 🧡 Our community amazes us each time we extend our hand for help and we are so grateful.

Everyone needs a cowboy in their lives! Meet this handsome guy ⬇️

*****ADOPTED*****Meet Cowboy! This lil cutiepie is looking for his pard'ner in life--yeehaw! He is about 5 months old. He is about 40lbs, and is sure to get bigger, but we don't think he will be super large. He has spent time in a foster home with other dogs and a young child, and is doing great! Here's what his foster mom says:

"Cowboy is a very happy go lucky guy. He is ready to tag along with whatever you are doing. He loves to snuggle, snack, go play and run or ride in the car. He loves all dogs and people of all ages but will chase cats--he has never hurt one. He never had any complaints or hesitations! He's a little rambunctious so another playful dog would be good for him. But he settles right down when it's time for bed and won't move all night. He is almost fully potty trained and knows how to sit. He needs work with jumping up."
