Ten more cats and kittens to their forever homes this weekend! Thank you our (lucky) adopters -- they each got an amazing cat or two♥️. Happy tails to these little guys. Especially happy for the fluffy Fanta who came to us with a litter of 2 day old kittens in January that went to their homes last weekend -- finally her turn to shine:)

We've still got 45 amazing cats in care right now if you are looking to adopt, so many friendly faces in our lounge. We still have cats at our Heath adoption partners at Petco and petsmart as well... The kitten boom is right around the corner, help us make room for them because you know we will be helping them!

We have 53 currently in care (ONLY 53, this is amazing for us!!).

The kitten rush is coming, help us find homes for some AMAZING cats and older kittens. Visit our new cat cafe, Whiskers Catnip Cottage (reserve time online at www.whiskersofohio.org) and meet some of the friendliest and sweetest cats out there.

North, Patches and Tess have been with us for almost a solid year for reasons we can't understand, other than they were overlooked last summer when we had about 150 kittens come and go, and they are no longer cute little kittens. They are now big, sleek, beautiful creatures and so full of love:)

We want forever homes for our guys and girls; please don't adopt on a whim or if you aren't in a good position to commit to care. Be prepared for a 15-20 year commitment to an indoor home!

Bakers Dozen, Cookie Crew, FIP Update

Sigh, sad news first… Peanut Butter was found by one of our amazing volunteers immobile. He was rushed to the vet where we were told that the humane thing to do was the euthanize. He declined so fast and sneakily his belly was full of fluid, which the night prior it was not.
His emergency vet visit will cost $150

Biscotti… was diagnosed with FIP on Friday. Her belly is HUGE. We had to get additional medicine, her vet appt and meds for 3 weeks will cost us $300

The good news: Sugar and Shortbread are simply THRIVING. Weight gain is amazing, energy levels are stunning, appetite is big. They have 60 more days of treatment. We will need another bottle of liquid meds that will cost us $300

We are fighting the fight. And we appreciate you all fighting the fight with us. These are our first FIP kitties. And honestly we did not expect so many to develop symptoms. FIP is NOT a death sentence - we believe at this point we know who the siblings were and who could have developed this.

Thank you all for your continued support. We have had so many dentals for our old guys our funding is being spent QUICKLY. If you’re willing to donate even $5 we appreciate it.

One is the loneliest number... We do not allow our kittens to be adopted alone if there isn't another young-ish cat in the home already. Please read this before even thinking about asking:) One kitten vs two honestly doesn't create much more work.

There are rescues/shelters that will adopt singles; we do what we believe is best for THEM in the long term, not us. Our little guys all find homes in a timely manner and we aren't desperate to push them out the door. So please don't ask♥️.

Shortbread and Sugar are doing better as of now. Still a long road ahead.

They are resting and eating! Evenings tend to be when they shine bright, they love to come out and go for short walks around the room. They got a tent upgrade today.

Sugar does not enjoy her nightly baths… but does enjoy her space heater.

Shortbread seems to be regaining his vision a bit.

We are currently treating two very sick kittens that have FIP -- they are holding their own and currently on day 5 of treatment. Frankie is a fantastic foster and has our Baker's Dozen group of kittens -- these two sick little ones are part of this clowder of kitties... These guys came to us incredibly malnourished and sickly -- they had come so far (see our earlier posts) before being hit with this, but they are still very small for their age.

FIP used to be a reason to simply euthanize, and what started as a black market treatment with lots of success has FINALLY morphed into a vet approved drug. Not a cure all, but it sure saves a lot of these babies -- and it takes a LOT of supportive care beyond the $250 meds. Please support Frankie's efforts and donate an item or four from her wishlist to send straight to her -- know that she contributes so much on her own already...
