We've had so many adoptions in the past few weeks, and we appreciate each and every one of you! But this boy, he gets his own post... Past adopters of ours came to visit, and Fred let them know quickly that he chose them!
♥️Fred came to us LAST SUMMER as a semi-feral 3 month old that we trapped with two remaining littermates. One littermate stayed with the foster, and he and his sister Velma ultimately joined us at Whiskers Catnip Cottage, and were placed in our Feline Correctional Institute😅. He was untouchable for the longest time, but food/treat motivated, and we finally had a breakthrough about two months ago and next thing we know, he couldn't get enough of anyone who walked through the door! He loves to be loved, and loves rough chin scratches.
What is this anti-social room? This sunroom is home to the cats who aren’t quite ready for group snuggle sessions or mingling with the public. There are safe places they can tuck themselves into and feel safe, cat condos to perch, but nowhere to hide where we can't get to them. Whether they're spicy, shy, or simply prefer the company of themselves, they’re given time, space, and understanding to adjust at their own pace. Volunteers with experience and patience are welcome to spend time reading, talking softly, or just sitting quietly to help our "inmates" learn that humans aren’t so bad. Many are food motivated like Fred, and cracking open a can of wet food perks up their sweet little ears... He isn't the first to receive parole, but he and his sister have been there the longest by far... Velma is SO close to her break-through as she now greets anyone who enters but stays out of reach if she can.
No judgment, no rush on these guys — just calm vibes, crunchy treats & INABA Premium Cat & Dog Treats Churu.
We respect their boundaries (most of the time), but have learned which ones we can push to accept some pets. We don't give up on our guys, whether they're not social or getting old; even the grouchiest cat has potential to earn early parole with love.
Thank you for helping us give every cat a chance to thrive — even the ones with a bit of cattitude. 🐾
