An Important Announcement from Bath & Biscuits

After much reflection and heartbreak, we’ve made the decision to permanently close our Daycare & Boarding department at Bath & Biscuits effective May 2, 2025.

This decision comes in the wake of the horrific incident caused by a former employee last Fall—an event that deeply impacted our team, our clients, and most importantly, the dogs we love. This week, that individual was sentenced to six months in jail, three years of probation, and ordered to pay restitution. While justice has been served, the emotional toll of that day can never be undone.

We’ve always believed in going above and beyond when it comes to care—but this incident made one thing painfully clear: the dog daycare industry must change.

Current standards recommend one attendant for every 15–20 dogs. That’s simply not enough. Even though there were only 10 dogs in the group that day, a second trained employee could have made all the difference. More eyes, more accountability, more safety—it matters.

Raising the standard would mean higher operating costs and owner fees—no question. But if it prevents even one tragedy, it’s worth every penny. Care shouldn’t be about what’s cheapest—it should be about what’s right.

We are heartbroken, but we remain committed to advocating for better standards across the industry. Thank you for your continued support, compassion, and trust.

Our salon and boutique will continue to provide excellent services and will be moving to a new building in the near future. More details will be provided soon.
