was formed for the purpose of providing rescue, care and adoption of unwanted, mistreated or homeless pugs. DFW Pug Rescue Club was founded in early 1996 and incorporated in July 1997 as a charitable, non-profit corporation. We are one of the largest pug rescue organizations in the United States having rescued and placed over 8,500 pugs. Veterinary care is our biggest expense averaging $220,000 a

year. All pugs rescued are taken immediately to the vet where they are examined, tested and treated for parasites, infections, vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped before being placed in a foster or permanent home. DFWPRC is an all-volunteer, foster-based organization — there are no paid positions. We do not have a staging area to hold our rescue pugs. We depend on the generosity of our volunteers to provide foster homes until permanent homes can be located. You can help to promote our mission and be a part of this exciting volunteer opportunity. With his charming underbite, soft fur, and friendly demeanor, one-year-old Blitz is a cuddle-worthy forever companion! Seven-year-old Maple is sweet as sugar! This laid-back and loving girl gets along with everyone she meets, including the adults, young children, senior pug, and cat in her foster home. She enjoys life’s simple pleasures, including cuddling next to her people on the bed or couch (preferably under a cozy blanket while Netflix is on), following her people from room to room, and chewing on stuffed toys. She is housetrained and eats her food politely. Maple loves nothing more than having quality time with her humans, and her ideal forever family will provide her with ample affection and snuggle time. Two-year-old Quinlan is full of energy and personality! Her favorite pastimes include channeling her inner fashionista and getting dressed up (especially in her favorite hoodie), laying on her back, cuddling with her humans and staring affectionately into their eyes, grunting like an old man when she adjusts positions in bed, going for walks and runs, and chewing on toys and bones. She knows some commands, is housetrained, and much prefers to be given free roam of the house rather than be confined to a crate. Despite her young age, Quinlan needed to have several teeth pulled when she arrived at the rescue and is dentally challenged. She eats her soft foods slowly and politely, in contrast to other members of her breed. Her ideal forever family will indulge her love of fashion and ensure that she receives plenty of exercise and cuddle time. Quinlan adores people of all ages (she’s especially sweet with small children) but can be grumpy around other dogs at times and possessive of her humans when other dogs are around; for this reason, we think she would prefer to be the only dog. Nine-month-old Mya is an outgoing, affectionate, and active girl whose signature move is her four-foot vertical leap! When she’s not showing off her jumping skills, Mya enjoys playing and snuggling with other dogs, going for walks, chewing on stuffed toys, and sleeping next to her people in bed at night. She is housetrained, crate trained, and doggie door trained. Mya’s ideal forever family will indulge her puppy-like energy and ensure she gets plenty of exercise; we suspect she would love to have another canine friend in her new home as well! Because she does engage in some playful nibbling, a home without small children may be best. Five-month-old Chopin is a playful pug mix and toy aficionado! This affectionate and high-energy boy loves exploring the world around him, socializing with other dogs, playing fetch, and spending time with adults and kids. He is still in the process of being housetrained, but he snoozes soundly in his crate at night and eats his meals politely. Chopin’s ideal forever family will have at least one person at home most of the day to help with his continued training and socialization, ensure he receives plenty of exercise, have a securely fenced yard, and indulge his love of toys. Two-year-old Hamilton is an outgoing and happy boy who loves meeting new people and dogs of all sizes. His favorite activities include playing with his fellow pups, learning how to fetch, showing off his tug-of-war talents, and snuggling next to his people in bed at night. Hamilton is a true foodie who enjoys spending time with his lick mat and goes bananas when his meals are being prepared, spinning with excitement all the way to his bowl; to quote the lyrics from a certain Broadway musical, when it comes to food, “Hamilton doesn’t hesitate/He exhibits no restraint.” He is housetrained and crate trained. Okra’s favorite activities include playing with big and small dogs, showing off his tug-of-war skills, chewing on bones, cuddling, going for walks, following his foster family from room to room, sleeping in bed next to his people, and generally acting like a lovable goofball. Fosters provide a temporary foster home for the pugs in our care. Without fosters, there is no hope for them to find their furever home.

There are several at the clinics ready to go, in a crate all day, accumulating clinic fees that could otherwise be used towards medical fees.

Are you ready to go for a walk? Because two-year-old Leonardo is always ready, and he barks with excitement when his foster mom brings out his leash! Apart from a solid trot around the neighborhood, Leonardo’s other preferred pastimes include getting the zoomies, snuggling and taking naps with his people, playing fetch with his favorite stuffed lamb, and falling asleep while chewing on bones. He is housetrained and crate trained, though he prefers to roam freely so that he can follow his humans from room to room. He is currently sensitive to the Texas pollen ( ) and takes Benadryl daily to combat reverse sneezing. Leonardo’s ideal forever family will allow him on the furniture so that he can cuddle up with them, provide him with plenty of attention, and love walks as much as he does. 12-week-old brothers Salem and Ghost are hauntingly cute pug mix boys who are available for adoption separately or together! Their foster mom describes them as energetic, loving, smart, and addicted to toys. Salem and Ghost enjoy playing with one another, going for walks, fetching balls, chewing on stuffed animals, and snuggling with people. They are crate trained and working on their housetraining. Their ideal forever family will have at least one person home at all times to continue with their training, ensure they get plenty of exercise, and make sure they are well socialized. Two-year-old Sylvester is a social boy with a never-ending supply of energy! He adores toys of all kinds, enjoys parading around his foster home with toys in his mouth, and appreciates a good game of tug-of-war. Sylvester is always ready to go for a walk or play with other dogs, but will stop briefly to recharge and cuddle with his people. He is housetrained, crate trained, and a polite eater. His ideal forever family will include at least one other active dog, provide him with plenty of human companionship, ensure he gets frequent exercise, and have a well-stocked toy chest. Because he can be rambunctious and is a jumbo-sized pug, an adults-only family or a family with older children would suit him best. Two-year-old Gordo is a lovable, active pug who doubles as a toy connoisseur! He enjoys playing tug-of-war with the other pugs in his foster home, chewing on squeaky toys, and chomping on bones. His other interests include sleeping next to his people in bed (or simply napping on his people!), barking at dogs when they appear on TV, quietly observing all of the goings-on in his foster home, and going for walks. Gordo is making excellent progress on his house training, is an expert-level doggie door user, is crate trained (though he would prefer to roam freely), and eats his food politely. Gordo’s ideal forever family will love to cuddle as much as they love to play; other friendly and energetic dogs in the home would be a bonus!
