Our friend Sachi was out for a walk with her family when she came across a fishhook and decided it looked like a yummy snack! 🎣

She initially went to her primary veterinarian who decided it would be best for her to come visit us to have an endoscopy. Our endoscope is a great tool we use to better visualize foreign material that may be in the esophagus or in the stomach.

We sedated her and used the endoscope to visualize the hook. Then, Dr. Hudson and his technicians Carmen and Jerry successfully removed the hook and Sachi was able to go home the same day! 🙌 🏡

We hope Sachi is recovering well and staying away from fishhooks! 🐟

Labor Day weekend is here! ❤️ And we want to remind you to keep your pets happy, healthy, and safe this holiday weekend with these tips:

☀️ Beat the heat: Dogs are susceptible to heat stroke. Ensure plenty of water and shade for your furry friends to keep cool.

🍽️ Protect your plate: Many foods we enjoy on Labor Day Weekend such as onions, corn cobs, chocolate, grapes, alcohol, and more can be toxic to pets or pose a choking hazard.

🍔 Guard the grill: Keep pets away from the grill, grill tools, lighter fluid, and matches in order to avoid burns and hazardous chemical ingestion.

🎆 Forego the fireworks: Not only can fireworks frighten pets, but they can also cause severe burns. Keep your pets calm and safe in a quiet, sheltered, and escape-proof area.

⚠️ Many snail and slug poisons contain metaldehyde, which is extremely toxic and even fatal to both dogs and cats. Pets are often attracted to the smell and will likely eat the bait if it’s within reach. Once ingested, metaldehyde impacts the nervous system, resulting in muscle tremors. Pets can die from hyperthermia, respiratory or cardiac collapse. ⚠️

Sweet Ellie needed emergency surgery after she presented in respiratory distress and in need of a chest tube. 🚑 🐾

🙏 Thanks to our wonderful friends at The Diedra Fund and Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center we were able to get Ms. Ellie the help she needs, and she was able to go back home to her loving family!! 💜 🏡

Remembering our beloved Canine Zeus

💔🐾 It is with heavy hearts that the AEHNT team, alongside the Lewisville Police Department, mourns the loss of our beloved Canine Zeus. On Friday, Zeus passed away due to a medical complication, leaving a void in our hearts and in the community he faithfully served. Zeus dedicated a year and a half of his life to serving as a loyal member of the Lewisville Police Department. During his time, he played a crucial role in numerous narcotics seizures and felony apprehensions, making a significant impact in keeping our community safe. He was assigned to Canine Officer Robey, forming an unbreakable bond that only those who have worked alongside a dedicated K-9 partner can understand. While the loss of Zeus is a profound sorrow for all of us, we take solace in the knowledge that he lived a life filled with purpose, making a tangible difference in the fight against crime. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Canine Officer Robey and everyone at the Lewisville Police Department who had the privilege of working alongside Zeus. Rest in peace, dear Zeus.
