Conversations with Mindy 🤣
Come meet this wonderful girl at the Friends of Grass Valley Animal Control Shelter
Mindy is still waiting for her new family. She’s been at the shelter far too long. She’s young, compact size, and loves to learn! She’s ready to meet you at the Grass Valley Animal Shelter.
Benny is a 1 year old shepherd mix available for adoption at the Grass Valley Animal Shelter. He is great with other dogs, gentle and polite on the leash and SO handsome! Benny, like all shelter dogs, also comes a free private training lesson from us ($150 value!). Please consider adopting a shelter dog!
Come meet Gigi! A 4 year old female French Mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux) mix at the Grass Valley Animal shelter. #doguedebordeaux #shelterdogsofinstagram #dogsofinstagram🐕 #frenchmastiff
Mindy would make a wonderful jogging or hiking buddy!
Meet Mindy! Will you be her new family?
When working with shelter dogs, it's very important to give them time to decompress when they come out of the kennel before doing any training. Today Gigi and I worked on leash skills and manners, but before we did any training, Gigi was given time in the yard to explore, play, sniff etc. I waited patiently for Gigi to relax and decide to lay down on her own (which took about an hour) before I asked her to engage her brain for some learning. You can see that pivital moment in this video! This kind of psychological decompression is important for any dog, but it is especially important for shelter dogs who don't have the luxury of a stable home environment (yet!)
Gigi is available for adoption from Friends of Grass Valley Animal Control Shelter. She would love to meet you!
