Courtesy post: looking for a foster or a forever home for 2 year old, handsome Terrier, Pringles! Pringles weighs 23 lbs! Very animated , very happy to ge to get out of his shelter kennel and enjoys yard time with other little dogs or on his . He comea
willingly for pats and cuddles and absolutely loves good food- wet food, turkey, chicken....you get the idea. But when done with treats, he has places to go and things to do, usually potty and then back by your suse !Pringles is an independent, little fella who would love an adult only home ( or with older kids) where, much like a cat , also enjoys time on his own! Pringles will bring you much joy with his beautiful eyes and sparkling smile but won't be clingy ! If you can help this sweet boy get out of the shelter into a quiet, loving home, please reach out to me at 530-902-0933. Pringles is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and comes with some food , bed and even a crate if needed

❤️❤️ASHLYN FOR ADOPTION...(can happily be adopted with or without her foster pal, Rufus).

What Ashlyn's friend has to say about her:

❤️This girl!! It always amazes me how well our fur-friends can get over life-threatening tragedies! Humans could learn a lot from our innocent fur-friends!

❤️Speaking of which, please meet the AMAZING ASHLYN! Ashlyn has been such a good girl since being rescued!! She recently graduated from “Obedience Training” and has got the basics down pat.

❤️Ashlyn is crate trained, healthy, current on all vaccines including Heart Worm. She is also spayed and Chipped.

❤️Ashlyn does well with other people and dogs, when introduced properly.

❤️I had the personal pleasure of going to the local dog run with Ashlyn and her foster fur-fur brother, Rufus (also available for adoption… see his bio for a great family dog), and what fun we had! They had their own space to run and play.

❤️Ashlyn was saved by a gracious Scooter’s Pals foster/helper. She has been trained and has excelled. All ASHLYN NEEDS NOW IS A FOREVER HOME and people to call her own. She has much love to give!

❤️To meet the Amazing Ashlyn, please contact her foster-mom, Stacie B., at: (530) 559-1848 (call or text)

❤️PS RUFUS and ASHLYN have become good buds, so if you're interested in a bonded pair, look no further. They are both really nice dogs.

UPDATE: He has found a good home!

Thank you for the tremendous interest in helping this sweet guy!

I will post more littles on this if still interested!

Courtesy post: looking for a home for this 1 year old yorkie mix, Chico. Shy and just terrified at the shelter, he has bonded beautifully with one of our high school volunteers who has shown us what a sweet, playful and sometimes goofy boy he is. Weighing 8.2 lbs, Chico needs to continue to bloom in a quiet, foster or a forever home and rediscover the joys of being a young one! He is quiet as a mouse and usually cowers or hides in his cat kennel ( we have no room in the dog kennels- overcrowded and at times, deafeningly loud) so we would love to get this sweet , lost boy out of the shelter!

Adult only home or a home with older children. He does best by bonding with a woman ( not sure why but could have beem neglected or abused by a man or just not socilaized with a man ). Good around other dogs but mostly seeks out companionship withh his fav human friends! A sauvy dog foster/ owner who knows some of us just need a little more time to adjust to a new, life would be great! But once he does, he will be your BFF!

He is neutered, vaccinated, chipped and comes with some food, bed, blankie and a crate. Transportation can be arranged generally . Please reach out to me if you have questions or can help, at 530-902-0933.

RESCUED!

Courtesy post: looking for fostee/ rescue or a forwvee home for a sweet, quiet but loving, wired haired Frenchie mix . Dijon is about 2 years old, weighs about 35 lbs, and is very shy initially but blossoms into a playful ham around his trusted friends ! He is very potty trained and loves walks and butt scratches. Dijon was abandoned on a highway in a rural town in our county. He was scared, hungry and very lost. Took a few days to settle down and high end treats helped me win his trust! And now he can't wait to get out of him shelter kennel, jumping with joy dor walks ! Dijon would be good in a quiet home, preferably with a yard where he can explore and do his business. He enjoys walks but mostly he bonds with his human friends! Sijon is meuterrd, vaxxinatrd and microchipped. A family with adults only or adults with older kids is recommended as he prefers slow and calm approaches and cuddles ! If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a home , please reach out to me at 530-902-0933!

Don’t Be a Cat-Napper! 🚫🐱

Found a litter of kittens outdoors? Before you scoop them up and rush to the shelter, stop and observe. Their best shot at survival is usually right where they are — with their mom. They should stay with her until they are at least 5 weeks old. She provides warmth, food, protection, and critical early life skills. Removing them too soon can be detrimental.

Instead, observe quietly. If the kittens are clean, plump and quiet, their mother is likely nearby. Unless they're in danger, it's best to leave them where they are so she can return and care for them.

Courtesy post: Oso need a forever home! He was left behind when family moved away . Oso is possibly a Westie Chihuahua mix with a jet black, gorgeous coat! He ended up in our loud, crowded shelter where he was terrified and either hid in the corner shaking or snapped if anyone would approach him. Imagine suddenly one day your family is gone and you lose everything you are familiar with, alone , scared and end up in an overcrowded shelter. To help him destress and stabilize I was able to get him out a bit into ahirt term foster and he turned out to be quite a happy dog . Still recovering so slow to warm up but loves my dogs; loves cuddles and has totally warmed up to my husband and insists on sitting on his lap while he does his crossword puzzle ! . He is now crate trained and does his business first thing in the morning in the yard.
Oso is a 3 years old that weighs 9.3 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped . If you can help with a loving home , a friendly dog to play with or stuffed toys he can chase and cuddle up with, he is ready to go home ! Please reach out to me at 530-902-0933.

Earlier this week, a 14-year-old boy named Elijah showed up alone at a small animal shelter in rural Iowa, holding a cardboard box with both hands. Staff members assumed he was dropping off a stray — but when they opened the box, they found a small, elderly dog wrapped in a baby blanket, with a note taped to the inside lid.

The note, written in neat but shaky handwriting, read:

“Her name is Pepper. She’s 16. My grandma passed away last week and she was her dog. I promised I’d take care of her but my foster family says I’m not allowed to keep pets. Please help her find a new home. She’s very good. I love her.”

The boy explained that he had walked over five miles from his foster home to bring Pepper to a safe place. He didn’t want her to end up on the street or in a kill shelter. He had been feeding her with his allowance money and saving bits of his own dinner for her. But he said goodbye anyway, gently kissed the dog’s forehead, and left the shelter quietly before anyone could stop him.

Touched by his story, the shelter staff immediately made Pepper their top priority. They shared her story — and Elijah’s note — on social media. Within 24 hours, the post had gone viral, reaching millions.

Donations poured in, not just for Pepper, but for Elijah too. A local couple who had lost their own dog months before came in to meet Pepper — and adopted her on the spot. Even more remarkably, after reading about the boy’s act of love, another family reached out and began the process to foster — and potentially adopt — Elijah himself.

This week, Elijah was reunited with Pepper in his new home. He cried when he saw her, and Pepper wagged her tail and leaned into him like no time had passed.

Sometimes the purest form of love comes from those who have the least to give — and give anyway.
