Wild Feather Ranch It's a little bit of a circus! We offer ADGA and unregistered Nigerian Dwarf goats, horses, some cattle, eggs and laying hens.

We are a small family farm/ranchette in Mid-MO. We also offer other farm related services like hoof trims and transport!

Sadly I forgot to take pictures!!

Today was exhausting, bittersweet and promising all at the same time. We sold the first two does from our farm name (even through we didn't breed them) and one of our first registered does whom we loved to bits. It's hard cuts right now and I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad to see them go but we can't keep them all and that reality is harsh. We bond with these guys and they're more than a number they become part of our lives. We hope this isn't goodbye but see ya later.

We also delivered two kids to their new homes along with a couple chicks. Who doesn't need a handful of chicks with their goat delivery?!? 😅

We shared some of our chicks with friends and saw through a rather large trade agreement: 5 adult goats for a few* new birds.

Right away, we shared some with friends and plan to share more. The Brahma pullets have arrived! (Most may be spoken for at this time!)

(along with a small flock of banty cochins who between Riann and myself, we are absolutely over the moon about which helps ease the sting a little.)

I also had some wonderful talks with some of my best goat friends today, soaked up some sunshine and cuddled some babies, which renewed my feeling that we are doing all this for the hopefully the future of our herd 💕

Well. We are home. Left early from rather eventful show..
I finally got in the ring today, to help a friend show her goats. But I scratched all of mine after yesterday. (Please don't ask here).

Very discouraged. Honestly the highlight of the show was the fun had in the ring with our friends & the judges, and the hotel with our other friends.

The coolest part was I got to show a goat that got a GRAND ribbon today with ME handling her and was able to handle several other nice girls! It was truly a pleasure seeing her win. So thank you for sharing and big thanks to the judges for teaching us while judging. It makes such a pleasant experience to be there and learn and have fun!!! 💗💗

We are on the fence if we will make it to little rock at this moment. We have a very busy week this week that may make all the difference if we can swing it or not. We love doing this and we dream of it all year long. Just need to reset and refresh.

“$30 for a 6 week old BYM pullet?!?!”

Let’s do math! 👩🏻‍🏫

$2 straight run chick at hatch
+$1 each week for care
=$8 per straight run chick at 6 weeks old

This becomes $16 per pullet/cockerel pair since every girl has a matching boy. I have to give away the rooster for free, but I’ve still had to care for him to the 6 week mark to be able to s*x them. So that pullet now costs $16 to raise to cover the cost of herself and her matching male. BUT I’ve also had to forgo hatching other babies because these big chicks are taking up the brooder space I would otherwise use for fresh little babies. So the price is doubled to account for the loss of multiple younger batches. So that becomes $32 per pullet. But that’s annoying and I’m a nice person, so I round down to make accounting easier on myself and the customer and so that becomes $30 per 6 week old s*xed BYM pullet.

You don’t wanna pay that? Awesome! Save yourself money and buy the $2 straight run chicks and don’t ask me to brood them and dispose of extra males for you 😉

This qualifies as one of the most redneck things I've done but I'm not mad about it... The baby brooder we were using for our fresh hatches quickly got overfull (not because of yesterday's adventures or anything) 🤣🤣 so when we couldn't find a bigger plastic tote for the house, this kennel made lovely duty! It is screwed together at the door hinges and the first clip area. It was a little difficult to get married together but not horrible. The chicks sure love all the room to run!! 😂
