🐾 Dog of the Week: Tank! 🐾

Meet Tank... our sweetest little student! 🐶 He’s currently enrolled in our training program and has been picking up his lessons so fast... such a smart pup!

With the chilly November weather rolling in, Tank’s been staying extra cozy in his favorite sweater, and we can’t get enough of how adorable he looks. 🥶🧣

Did you know bird dog trainers use homing pigeons? 🕊️

These amazing little birds play a big role in training! Jonathan (the owner of Pet Commander Kennels and professional bird dog trainer) uses them to help dogs learn how to properly point and hold steady.

Here’s how it works…
The pigeon is hidden in a launcher out in the field. When the dog scents it and locks on point, Jonathan releases the trap — and the bird flies away, circling back home to its little loft where food and water are waiting.

Well… usually. 😅
This handsome guy in the picture decided he’s not quite ready to go home yet — which isn’t the best idea since that’s where dinner is waiting!

Hopefully by the end of the day, he’ll remember where home really is. 💛

Every detail of Pet Commander Kennels is designed with your dog’s comfort and safety in mind, including the bath area. We installed deep, spacious tubs with a walk-in ramp to make entering and exiting stress-free for dogs of all sizes and breeds. Whether you’ve got a tiny pup or a gentle giant, bathtime is a breeze here!

🎃 Halloween is just a few days away... and while it’s full of fun for us, it can sometimes be stressful or even dangerous for our pets.

Here are a few safety reminders to help keep your furry family members protected during the holiday:

🍬 Keep candy out of reach
Chocolate and sugar-free candies (especially those with xylitol) can be toxic to pets. If your pet gets into the candy bucket, contact your vet or the ASPCA Poison Control Center right away: 1-888-426-4435.

🚪 Be mindful of the front door
With trick-or-treaters coming and going, even calm pets may try to slip outside. A quiet, secure room may help keep them safe during the busiest hours.

📛 Check ID tags & microchips
If they do escape, proper identification can make all the difference. Make sure tags are readable and microchip info is up to date before the big day!

🎃 Decorate wisely
Small pieces or lit candles in pumpkins can cause injury or be swallowed. Keep hazardous items out of paws’ reach.

🧙‍♂️ Choose safe costumes
Costumes should allow pets to walk, breathe, eat, and see easily. Skip any loose parts that could be a choking hazard.
