"Wait" is one of my favorite things to teach to communicate with our furry family. Here we are teaching Waylon to relax at the door so he can exit and enter politely and safely. He is doing great!
Sometimes we let smaller dogs get away with not having good leash etiquette, but here, Mr. Winfield demonstrates how nice he can walk on a gentle leader. Just because they don't pull us down doesn't mean it shouldn't be organized :)
Teaching our furry family to wait until we have secured their leash and we are ready for them to exit the vehicle is a very important safety measure for them and for us. 10 month old Marley demonstrates how nice and organized that can look. She learned this in about 10 minutes:)

Training with two of my star students, Scout and Marley. We have done a lot of work with staying calm during distractions such as other barking dogs charging to the edge of their yard at us in this video. We do this for a number of reasons but one so that if you are handling a larger dog and have other triggers around you, you could very easily get pulled down and hurt badly. It is very important training and these girls have mastered it! (This video was taken a few weeks ago before hot temperatures outside so they are not laying on hot pavement)
