Stewardess: “Very Pleasing”
1944: Manchester Terrier Ch. Canyon Crest’s Stewardess, out of Mr. and Mrs. William Bagshaw’s Canyon Crest Kennels—and owned by none other than the revered all-rounder William Kendrick, who was among the most knowledgeable terrier fanciers of his day. (Tauskey photo)
A breeder of the 1940s offered the following critique of Stewardess:
“These are what Manchester Terriers should look like today. This dog flows. The angulation is excellent. The top line is perfection. The tail set and carriage can't get any better with the slightly rounded croup. The 1st and 2nd thigh excellent. I have seen none better in today's time. Personally, I like the shorter crop on the terrier like depicted. They are terriers. They should be depicted and judged as so. I would only take a couple of points off for the planes of the head, that is it. Even at that, still very pleasing.”—from Sighthound Review
