The horses think they are dogs. 😅
A bit of roundpenning with little boy this morning before the sun gets too hot. I had to get a little creative to get him to face up, but he figured it out! From there I was able to work on touching with the carrot stick and we even got to do some figure 8s.
A little roundpenning with Char this morning, day 2. Just getting some basics in before the sun started blaring.
This was back on day 1 with Reba in January. I was lucky to just get a sniff back then!
Played an easy game this morning. Took them about 30 minutes, but Reba is too food-motivated to let anything get in the way of her breakfast. 🤣
*After* photo in the comments. :)
We worked with Rambo and the saddle pad this morning. I originally pulled it out to work with Tex, but Rambo took off running and I thought "what a wonderfully spooky thing to work on today!"
He was warming up to it pretty well by the end!
While this is nice in itself, I have also watched his *switch* flip over these last few days. He's gone from "RUN AWAY" for every movement, to "AHHH.... wait, wait" and then looks at me for direction. If something scares him, he turns to run, stops, then turns back to me! Very proud of his progress this week.
Meet the *Horses*!
Last up, we have Tex!
Ok, you caught me. Tex is a burro, not a horse.
Tex was brought in with Rambo for training, but he is just too cool. We officially decided yesterday that we better keep him! He hasn't learned much yet, but we are taking our time just getting him comfortable with us. He's a real special guy. ❤
Meet the Horses!
Next up, Rambo!
Rambo is a 2 year old gelding from Antelope Valley, Nevada. He will be available for reassignment in July 2021. Here is us doing some basic liberty work - leadless following.
If you have interest in Rambo, let us know. Otherwise, feel free to just follow along and watch his progress! He has come a long way!
