Does your dog need a nose job?!

There are many brachycephalic breeds (Frenchies, Bulldogs, Pugs, etc) that may have stenotic nares. This is a condition where their nostrils are too small. For these dogs, it’s like breathing through a pinched off straw. Stenotic nares and elongated soft palate are conditions we can treat to prevent Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS). BAS can lead to respiratory distress and even death in some cases.

This puppy came to see us today for her spay and to get her stenotic nares fixed. Here are some before, during and after pictures.

We have so many people asking if their dogs and cats need to be on flea and tick prevention through the winter.

Short answer: YES!

Long answer: We probably see more flea infections during the winter than other times of the year. Those pesky little bugs are looking for a warm place to stay and your dog and cat is just the home they are looking for.

Fun flea fact: It can take a minimum of 8 weeks to eliminate fleas from your home once a pet brings them in. In cases of infestation, ALL pets in the house need to be treated, not just pets where fleas are seen.

It is always recommended to keep your dog and cat on year round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

At Animal Medical Center, we offer full-service small and large animal care including vaccinations, spay and neuter surgeries, animal chiropractic, ultrasound diagnostics, cold laser therapy, surgical laser, digital x-ray, endoscopy, regenerative medicine (stem cell therapy), all aspects of bovine and equine medicine, surgery, consultation, and much more. Retail products for pet care and nutrition are also available, and we are proud of our clean open-hospital environment.
