Every pet deserves a chance to find its way home, and microchipping makes that possible. For only $5, the Great Falls Animal Shelter is offering microchipping to help ensure your furry family members are always protected.

How to Schedule an Appointment:

1. Fill out the form here: https://greatfallsmt.net/animalshelter/microchip-form.
2. Once we receive your form, we’ll contact you to verify your pet’s rabies vaccination information. (Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required to schedule an appointment.)
3. After verification, we’ll confirm your appointment.
👉 Appointments cannot be scheduled without proof of a current rabies vaccination.

This special promotion is only available from February 25 to March 17, 2025, and space is limited.

📢 Exciting News! Renovations are Coming to the Shelter!
Starting February 1, 2025, the City of Great Falls Animal Shelter will undergo long-anticipated renovations funded by the SLIPA grant. These updates will ensure a safer, healthier environment for our animals, staff, and community. 🛠️

Key Updates During Renovations:
🐶 January Adoption Event: Reduced adoption fees all month! Help us find homes for our animals before construction begins.

🐾 Temporary Suspension of Public Intake:
Starting January 20, we won’t be accepting stray animals.
By February 1, the shelter must be empty of dogs to accommodate construction.
Found a stray? Please care for it or help locate its owner using resources like Pawboost, Petco Love Lost, or the Facebook group “Great Falls Lost and Found Pets.”

🚨 Animal Control Limitations: They’ll respond to emergencies but may have reduced capacity to house animals.

🏠 Mid-March Closure: The shelter will fully close for 2–3 weeks during the painting phase. Remaining animals will be safely transferred or housed off-site.

How You Can Help:
🐾 Adopt a Pet: Join our January event to give a furry friend a forever home.
🐾 Promote Pet Safety: Ensure your pets have up-to-date microchips and ID tags (available at the shelter).

Saying our prayers before we eat 🙏

Feeding time is my favorite training time! Make the most of something you do everyday anyways to practice important skills with your dog like patience and recall 🐾

A foundation is your puppy’s core skill set of basic commands, impulse control and manners. These skills enable you to live a stress free, fun life with your puppy and build on them to train your puppy in any sport or work! At 12 weeks Piper can: 🌟Recall well 🌟Walk on a loose leash 🌟Hold a sit-stay while patiently waiting to be released to eat 🌟 Stay on bed, even when the kids get home from school! It’s not magic… it’s consistent, intentional training! Puppies are sponges when we bring them home, ensure they are learning good habits with my puppy foundation workbook and coaching! Share this with someone who has a puppy or is getting one soon 🐶💕

Chasing your puppy when they grab something encourages keep away or worse, resource guarding. Instead, recall your puppy to you, reward, then redirect to an appropriate toy or chew! Recalls are like a muscle, the more you practice the better they become! You must practice and reward recalls frequently to have the skills to use it when you need it.

Mornings are often hectic to get everyone ready, fed, lunches packed and out the door on time. One of my favorite practices to decrease the chaos is to bed train my puppies during this time! Committing a week to teach this skill allows the rest of their life to be effortless where my puppy is the calm among the chaos instead of adding to it!
