If there’s anything that keeps trainers and dog owners stuck, it’s the fixation on the “why” of a dog’s behavior.

This fixation is unhelpful.

What you •can• know with certainty: whether a behavior is healthy, desired, appropriate.

What you •cannot• know with certainty: why the dog is doing it.

The former consists of observable behavior (measurable)

The latter consists of internal motivation (unknowable)

Some would have you believe that action cannot be taken until the one unknowable thing “the why” is identified. 🛑

Behavior modification does not need to be some mystical, guessing game.

Dogs are simple association creatures.

This stuff is far more straightforward and far more simple than many want you to believe.
