Here is your checklist for the upcoming cold snap:
✅ Heated water (warm water encourages drinking better than cold/icy water)
✅ Shelter from the wind
✅ Blankets for horses that are very young, very old, skinny, sick, or clipped
✅ Extra grass/alfalfa (forage creates more body heat than grains, and now is not the time to introduce new mashes or grains if your horse is not already used to eating them)
✅ Banamine and electrolytes (just in case!)

Anything else on your must have list? Stay warm out there!

Here's something to warm you up on this snowy day! We want to give a shout out to Dr. Rebecca Hendricks and the rest of Block and Bridle Veterinary Service for their recent donation of children's toys. After testing them out just a little ourselves, these toys are headed out to our apparatuses where they can bring a little comfort to the Greeleyans we help out during our shifts. Good news from the North Pole!

Children around the world received some good news today, with officials from the North Pole confirming that Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and the rest of Santa’s reindeer have been approved for their Christmas Eve flight following a health checkup from Santa’s veterinarian.
