With the high winds we've been experiencing in Northern Colorado, West Ridge Animal Hospital wants to emphasize the importance of checking your gates and fences. Even a small gap can be an opportunity for your pets to wander off. Take a few minutes to ensure everything is secure. Your pet's safety is our priority!

Coyotes breed from January through March and pups are born from April to mid-May. During this time coyotes may be more active and visible in Greeley's natural areas. Coyotes are most active at dawn and dusk. We live in coyote country and there are things we can do to peacefully share space with them.

Tips for living with coyotes:
● Avoid attracting coyotes to your home by preventing access to garbage, bird feeders and pet food. Never feed wildlife.
● When walking in natural areas, be aware of your surroundings in case a coyote crosses your path. If using headphones, leave one out.
● If a coyote approaches you, do not run. Be as big and loud as possible, and throw rocks or sticks to scare the coyote away.
● Keep pets indoors and on a leash when walking outdoors.

If you see coyotes in Greeley, please alert Greeley Natural Areas & Trails at 970-350-9205 or at [email protected] so that we can post signs to alert people of the coyote's presence.

The photo is a coyote in Arroyos del Sol, which is closed for the winter. The property is closed to allow animals like coyotes a place to rest, breed, and den without disturbance from humans.

Having a trusted relationship with a veterinarian is key to healthy and happy pets. Data from AVMA’s recent pet owner survey highlight the opportunity to improve wellness care, particularly for pets that already have a regular veterinarian.

As the chart shows, most dog owners (86.8%) and cat owners (77.1%) report having a regular veterinarian or veterinary practice. However, when it comes to actually visiting a veterinary practice, these numbers drop to 74.2% for dogs and only 57.3% for cats. The fact that more pet owners have a regular veterinarian than visited the veterinarian in the last year spotlights an opportunity to improve service delivery for patients and clients. Let our family care for yours

West Ridge Animal Hospital has been serving the animals of Northern Colorado since 1968. In 1978, West Ridge became the first American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited hospital in the area. Accreditation requires advanced medical facilities and practices, and voluntary inspection of our medical records and standards of patient care. West Ridge Animal Hospital remains the only full service American Animal Hospital Association-accredited hospital in Greeley and has recently achieved the highest level of accreditation available.

As a team, we come together to provide the most comprehensive, compassionate care available. We continue to grow to serve you and your pet’s every need.

We offer a wide variety of surgical and professional services for the well being of your pet. We strongly believe in preventative health care including routine health checks, diagnostic blood panels and vaccinations, to name a few. Consult your veterinarian about arthritic pain management, geriatric care, and behavioral problems. We encourage you to approach any of our professional staff with questions you may have regarding your animal companion.

We are proud to offer a number of digital radiographic services to complement standard diagnostic procedures. If your pet undergoes radiographic procedures, your veterinarian evaluates the x-rays. In addition, a board-certified veterinary radiologist reviews all digital radiographs taken at West Ridge Animal Hospital. Bring a CD-R along with you on your visit and we will gladly burn a disk of your companions x-rays.
