Beckham getting in some holiday enrichment! Watch that nose working overtime!
Mitch goes home today after wrapping up his 8 day board and train program!
Athena has been working (and growing) hard during her Puppy Development Program. She’s gained some new skills (and an extra cup of food each day) to ready her for when she’s a big girl. Athena has learned the basics of come, sit, down, place, automatic stays and leave it. We are putting in hundreds of reps of these every day and slowly adding in some duration, distance, and distraction. She’s improving greatly on her crate and potty training and is continuing to build her confidence, social skills, neutrality and leash manners! This is a recap on day 6 with Athena. She has a nail trim and some handling desensitization planned for later this evening so wish her luck!
Virtual Tour
An updated Virtual Tour of our facility on a busy, full house day! We’ve stopped doing in person tours a while back and, for some, this can be a dealbreaker. We completely understand, however the reason we don’t do them anymore is because it disrupts this flow and energy. We often have dogs who are nervous or reactive to humans and having strangers coming through is disruptive to even our most balanced dogs. That being said, here’s our way around it! Hopefully this gives you a good idea of how your dog is spending their day. The look, sound and feel of the environment we aim to maintain every day! Calm, clean and enriching! (Although at this time of the day, they’re all pretty tired and not doing too much play!) All dogs get a chance for indoor and outdoor play as well as rest times multiple times throughout the day so they’re fulfilled mentally and physically! It’ll be fun to look back at this in a few years because we’re planning to finally finish the walls with paint and FRP wall protectors soon! I’m thinking green! What do you think?
After a morning of hard work getting in some last minute repetitions before his take home lesson tonight, Mowgli is ready for a nap on “place” :)
Stretch out and huddle up!
Behind the scenes of a typical outdoor recess with one of the Tuesday daycare groups in our very own Bark Park!
Not only do we have some daycare slots available so your dog can join in all of the fun, but YOU can rent this Bark Park out for private use too!
Snuggle Up with Miller Heights and take a peek at how our sleep and rest times go!
After hours, when bellies are full, bladders empty and minds/bodies fulfilled, we settle in with some comfort items (if appropriate) and rest up for the next big adventure!
Or even just when the day's fun calls for a good nap!
It isn't uncommon for owners to feel uneasy at first when leaving their dog somewhere new for vacations or trips. At MHK9, it's our mission to give your dog their own relaxing and fun vacation right here in Green Bay while you're away!
A little evening behind the scenes and introduction of a full house here at Miller Heights K9! Full kennels don’t mean chaos! We try our best to fulfill each of the pups physically and mentally so their stay here is as calm and happy as possible.
Everyone was ready for dinner! Another training session for miss Mazie, some last outs and exercise around 9 before bedtime. Then we do it all again in the morning!
Stella’s owner rented out the Bark Park for a few hours last month to do some protection work training with their protection trainer!
They captured some cool clips so enjoy seeing a Malinois doing exactly what she was designed to do!
Our Bark Park and it’s features are perfect for work AND play!
No, this video is not on a loop. Yes, this is typically how Sunny and Scout play their game of chase. Around and around and around something, today it was some spools and the culvert tunnel.
Bark Park Fun
Ever wanna be a fly on the wall at Miller Heights? Well here’s a good look at a few minutes of our outdoor play!
We don’t want to be like normal dog daycares. We strive to be different because the “norm” isn’t ideal.
Our goal:
Calm, balanced dogs just getting to let loose and be dogs. Enjoying a natural space full of things to exercise their brains and minds. Structured in a way to promote healthy play habits and general behavior, confidence building and manners. Small group sizes to ensure your dog can benefit from all we have to offer and our attention.
Quite a big difference from the “normal” dog daycare. Small, concrete rooms jam packed with nothing but dogs pacing, whining, barking, jumping, humping and marking. Learning and practicing unhealthy behaviors. Coming home exhausted not from playing, but from having to cope with all of the chaos.
Do better for your dog. Find a place that puts your dogs mental health and general wellness above the money they could potentially make from somehow caring for 100s of dogs a day.
This isn’t me trying to convince anyone to give me their business instead. I quite frankly will not have the room to accept any new dogs for long. But please please please, do your research and look for the quality daycares that help fulfill and uplift your dog. There are so many that are doing more harm than good.
