Happy 9th Anniversary, Cassie! 🎈

Anyone whose pet can have treats has probably taken one from this incredible client care specialist! Her empathy for others knows no bounds and she's truly an amazing listener, no matter what situation you may be facing.

She loves family time outside of Countrycare, including attending her kids' extracurricular activities. Then, after cheer and trap events, she is taking classes at Packerland Kennel Club with her dog, Sage!

Cassie, your humor and glowing personality bring a light to the clients and other staff at Countrycare. You are an unstoppable force to anything you put your mind to and we're so happy to have you with us!

Happy 9-Year Anniversary!

Dr. Strickfaden recently attended a conference in Asheville, North Carolina with a Veterinary Management Group (VMG). As you know, Hurricane Helene devastated that area at the end of September, and life is nowhere back to normal for the residents of that region.

The group decided to still meet in Asheville, but they knew they had to do something to help the community. With most of the veterinary clinics closed, there was a backlog of pets that had been going without care for months.

Before traveling to Asheville, many of the VMG veterinarians, including Dr. Strickfaden, applied for their temporary licenses to practice vet medicine in North Carolina. Then, during their meeting, they took a day to help a colleague at Swannanoa Valley Animal Hospital treat the local pets in need.

Six teams of DVMs saw a steady stream of patients all day. They performed wellness exams, treated sick pets, took X-rays and lab samples. At times, it was a bit chaotic, but they were on a mission to help as many pets as they could.

Meanwhile, other VMG volunteers cleared debris that the flood waters had washed onto the clinic property. They also brought in soil and mulch to get the landscaping looking presentable.

The area is still without clean water. As you can see from photos, even the businesses that weren't damaged in the flood are closed due to lack of water. The hospitals need tanker trucks to bring in water for their patients. Dr. Strickfaden's hotel set up a temporary water tank for the guests to have running water.

Their Uber driver thanked them for coming to Asheville despite the destruction. It is an area that is dependent on tourism to keep the economy flowing, and the tourists aren't coming right now.

Dr. Strickfaden said, "This reminds us all to be grateful for those things we take for granted, like clean water. We need to be grateful for the people around us and the things we have, because you never know what could happen."

This sweet little Australian Cattle Dog loved watching everything going on around her!

This is Ollie, and she had a hard time focusing on Brooke K in her own appointment when everything else was happening just out of reach. But everyone made sure to remind her how adorable she is with head pats and mini play sessions while she waited for the vet tech.

If you have a Cattle Dog, share their picture in the comments to welcome little Ollie!

Did you know that November is National Pet Cancer Awareness Month?

Though it's something we may not think about until it happens, cancer is more apparent in dogs than we'd like to believe. This is Oakley, and she had grown a cluster of 3 tumors under her arm, the largest weighing over 1.5 lbs!

Though it wasn't sent off to be tested whether it was cancerous, we were all happy to see the mass removed. When you bring your pets in to a physical exam, this is one of the many things we keep track of on your pet. Lumps are measured and remeasured to keep track of their growth and the impact it might have.

Though this isn't something that can only be done here, you can keep track at home! Regularly checking over your pet's body for any odd bumps is a wonderful way to give a mini-physical at home.

How often do you clean your pet's ears? 🤔

This is Libby, and she was a model patient for her ear cleaning last week - snuggled comfortably in a towel and really enjoyed getting that wax out.

Whether you decide to have your vet, your groomer, or even yourself clean your pet's ears, it's important to ensure it's done properly and monitored between cleanings.

Edgar was so brave for his appointment!

After having his second ACL repair down in Madison, he stopped in to see how everything was looking. Though he is a shy boy when he's here, there's nothing a few scratches and treats can't fix!

From every stage of the visit, our caring staff worked with Edgar at his pace. Cassie was slow to welcome him with a treat at the front door. Erika's demeanor was relaxed and calm for him to not become overstimulated by the different sounds and smells. Carrie and Erika worked as an effortless team to keep him as comfortable as possible while getting X-rayed.

It's so wonderful to see our staff fulfill their positions in the most fear-free and loving ways they can!

“It’s just a little lump, it’s no big deal.” We’ve probably all thought this regarding our pets before. Sometimes, a lump may be no big deal. Other times, a lump, no matter how small or how big, is a big concern for your pet’s well-being.

This blog, written by our Dr. Heintz, may help you answer some questions about your pet's health. As a clinic, it's not only our duty to care for your pets; it's also to educate you to care for your pet to the best of your ability!

The doctors at Countrycare Animal Complex in Green Bay, WI, can assess your pet's lumps and bumps to screen for mast cell tumors.
