🦸‍♀️Not all heroes wear capes. 🦸‍♂️

Today kicks off the first of twelve days of Wild & Free Rescue’s new initiative to give back to our community. We’re calling this series “Paying It Forward: Compassion In Action.” 💓

🐾Many of you may have heard about the hoarding situation that has taken over Eastshore Humane Society in Chilton. On November 9th, Wild & Free Rescue partnered with the team at Eastshore Humane Society in Chilton to confront an unimaginable situation. 70 dogs were discovered in heartbreaking conditions in the days prior—severely matted, in excruciating pain, and unable to relieve themselves because of the mats obstructing their back ends. Their suffering was beyond words, and we knew action couldn’t wait. ⏳️

🐕 We quickly assembled a dedicated team of groomers and bathers, contributing a total of 60 volunteer hours between Friday and Saturday. Saturday, we started grooming bright and early at 7 a.m., with volunteers determined to groom every dog until they were free from their matted fur. ✂️

💞Volunteering at Eastshore Humane Society holds a special place in our hearts—and it’s unquestionably one of the most challenging efforts we’ve ever taken on. This incredible team came together to bathe and groom a total of 33 dogs on Saturday! For the first time in what might have been years, these animals could move freely and experience relief for the first time in a while. The light came back in their eyes, their tails began to wag, and their skin could breathe again.

❤️‍🩹 But the work is far from over. While these dogs are now free of their mats, they face a long road to recovery. Most require extensive medical care before they’ll be ready for the loving homes they deserve. Eastshore Humane Society has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support in donations! These resilient souls have already begun their journey toward a brighter future. The community showing up and showing their support is a huge reason why. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their journey and make a positive impact on their futures. We hope this inspires you to pay it forward in your own way, too. ♥️
