What age can you ecollar train a dog?

Depends on the intelligence of your dog.

Ecollars are there to proof NOT to teach.

Do NOT be lazy and try to teach commands with the ecollar, this will make your dog ecollar smart or collar shy.

Want your dog to accept normal things? You know like other people, kids, dogs, cats, vaccums etc. hold them accountable for the things they know. Behavior takes advantage of excuses and inconsistency. How you say? Avoiding anything they perceive that is going to make them uncomfortable. Learning takes stepping out of said comfort zone in order to diminish controlling behaviors such as jumping, barking and biting. Be your dogs educator before being their best friend. All freedom and no boundaries will create abuse. If you can’t get respect from your dog you should reconsider having one.

This past weekends seminar with Packerland Kennel Club!

This past weekend I have the wonderful opportunity to share my knowledge with the one and only Packerland Kennel Club and staff. I had a blast talking dogs and solving puzzles! I even got to work with one of my favorite all time breeds which you see in the video.

Can anyone name this breed!? 🐕
I swear I want one of these guys someday.

Anyways, my aggression seminar hopefully helped a couple of folks in the crowd with things and ideas they could take back with them.

My philosophy is pretty simple, the place where the dog spends the most time is where the majority of your training should take place….at home!

Do not expect your dog to behave in any environment of your dog doesn’t behave in their home environment!

Hopefully Packerland will have me back! 🤞

You best let them be free or else they will break free.

I often wonder if there’s a correlation between those dogs that runaway and their living situation. If your dog spends most of its time in your backyard constantly fence fighting/barking and then on leash creating all of this barrier frustration (reactive towards dogs,humans, cars, bikers etc.) never allowed to explore the world it cannot get to (off leash), do they (when they get the chance) get out and fulfill that need so much so that they lose how to get back to you?

I’ve never had a dog run away from me. Is it because I allow my dogs to get that freedom?

Off leash exploration is a NEED for most dogs. More important than cuddles and couch time. The bond you feel moving, hunting, exercising (in my opinion) brings you much closer than any treat or toy can.
Properly trained off-leash dogs run away a lot less.
So instead of all the pictures with couch cuddles let’s get some content with you and your dog off leash!

I walk it like I talk it. Here was Tina at 4 months with a solid recall and even better stay. Too add, Tina is a whole bird dog so she’s far from calm. Just goes to show what consistency can do for your dog hyper or calm. She held that stay for more than a minute! 😊
