Winter CSA shares are open!

Our farmers have been storing the abundance of flavorful roots from the fall harvest to provide them to you throughout the cold Wisconsin months through our Winter CSA!

As a CSA member, you’ll receive $40 of veggies every other week from January 13th through March 24th - a total of 6 shares over 12 weeks.

Shares are fully customizable, so you can have your pick of onions, cabbage, carrots, beets, winter squash, rutabaga, potatoes, sweet potatoes, shallots, garlic, radishes, celeriac, microgreens, lettuce, spinach, and more!

We know it can be difficult to find local, organic produce in the winter. A CSA share is an easy way to know everything on your plate is grown by local farmers using organic practices.

Tonight we hosted UWGB Nutrition students for a farm tour and farm to table pizza dinner. Their professors want to give them more understanding of how food is grown and how that contributes to nutrition. We were thankful for the opportunity to host them and connect with the UWGB Nutrition program! It was a beautiful evening!

We want your leaves!

Hi friends and neighbors! As the leaves begin to drop, it’s always good practice to mulch them in place to add nutrients to your soil. If you are set on raking them up, consider bringing them over to Valentine Gardens. We will use your leaves to mulch our garlic and add nutrients to our other beds. We have a spot designated to the right of our farmstand with flags where you can drop them off! Thanks!

Today we had the pleasure of attending the 5th Annual Barter Market at Ukwakhwa Inc, our friends' teaching farmstead in Oneida. It was a joyful and empowering event. No money is exchanged. Folks bring foods, crafts, and homemade products and make offers and trade for whatever they are interested in. Check out the pictures to see everything we bartered for!! We traded: honey, elderberry syrup, ground cherries, watermelons, green beans, goats milk soap, goat hot dogs, beeswax lip balm, garlic & native pollinator seeds. Thank you Stephen Webster and Kanyʌhtakelu Becky Webster for inviting us!!

What the cluck is up with no eggs at the farmstand? Just wanted to give you all a little update and more info. We get only about 2dz eggs a day from our chickens. We get 30 dz per week from Kellner Back Acre Garden to keep our farmstand stocked.

Last week there was a salmonella recall of Milo's eggs - one of the largest local organic egg suppliers - so there is extra demand for Kellner's eggs in the grocery store. Before the recall demand was already high due to the price of conventional eggs being up around the same price as organic!

Nancy is hoping they can get us some eggs delivered tomorrow afternoon. During this shortage we ask that when you stop and there are eggs available that you be thoughtful of other customers and limit your purchase of eggs to 2 dz.

Any one interested in placing an order for elderberry syrup, please comment below or message us. We can set it aside for you for pickup at the farmstand. We have around a dozen each of pints and quarts.
