❄️ A Winter Reminder About Outdoor Cats ❄️
We know the temperatures are dropping, and it’s natural to worry about cats seen outside. But most outdoor cats have lived outside for most—or all—of their lives. They are often well-adapted to outdoor living, especially when they have access to shelter, food, and a safe area.
Right now, GLAAS is at maximum capacity, and we are receiving daily calls about surrendered cats and outdoor cats. While we absolutely do not want anyone dumping cats outside, we simply do not have the staff, resources, or space to bring in every outdoor cat. We are sorry, but we have to be realistic—we are not a big shelter, and our resources are limited.
We can work with people on TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) to help fix outdoor cats and prevent more kittens from being born.
Here’s how you can help outdoor cats safely this winter:
🐾 Provide a simple insulated shelter (rubber totes with straw work great!)
🐾 Offer fresh, unfrozen water
🐾 Contact us if a cat is injured, sick, or in immediate danger
🐾 Help ensure they are spayed/neutered through TNR programs.
Outdoor cats don’t always need to come indoors—but they do need people who care. Thank you for helping us support them in the safest and most realistic way possible during these colder months.
Thank You!
