Say hello to Rocky, our splendid treeing walker coonhound! This 70-pound beauty loves showing off his advanced training and terrific manners. He enjoys walking on a long leash, turning his soulful brown eyes to you, and then running to you with excitement, happy with an encouraging word or treat as a reward! He’s an affectionate companion who loves exploring the outdoors, walking on trails, going
for car rides, practicing commands, and being around other dog friends—especially other hounds! He's been house trained for years. To see lots of photos and videos of him, go to his page, and if you don't use Facebook, see his profile on PAW's website. page: https://www.facebook.com/Hearts4Rocky

Rocky's rough start in life makes him even more lovable to all who know him. We think he didn't like being a hunting dog; he has no interest in chasing animals and doesn't like loud noises. He's emerged from his recent training as a resilient, happy, well adjusted guy who likes the company of other dogs and loves to show you what he can do. He has derived so much happiness from the consistency of his recent training, we’d like for his new adoptive family to work with him during free sessions with Rocky's trainer. This will streamline the adoption process for Rocky and his new family. The sessions may be in-person and/or online, whichever works better for Rocky and his new family. Until then, we need a FOSTER home. Rocky will thrive with stability, consistency, and lots of affection. Rocky’s ideal forever home is likely in a quieter area (suburb/rural setting), in a calm dog-experienced household. He will reward his family with years of outdoor adventures, companionship, devotion, and love! PAW usually places animals in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, but we are willing to place Rocky farther away to find the right home for him!
