Meet Coco!
Coco came to us unable to use his back legs due to a ruptured disk in his back. After a thorough examination, Dr. McKinstry determined that Coco would greatly benefit from our Laser Therapy. 4 months later, Coco WALKED out of our office.
We are thankful for Coco's parents for trusting the process.
If you are interested in our Laser Therapy, you can call the clinic and get more information on individual and package prices.
🦇 Happy Howl-oween! 🎃
🐈⬛ After trick-or-treating this weekend, make sure you keep your furry family members out of the candy! Read below about some of the toxicities and problems commonly seen around Halloween. If your pet gets into something they aren't supposed to, don't hesitate to give us a call!
🍫 Chocolate (especially dark): Chocolate contains two compounds that can cause your pet some issues-- theobromine and caffeine. If your pet is experiencing chocolate toxicosis, they may have some gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, in addition to potential cardiac arrhythmias, seizures/tremors and muscle weakness.
☠️ Sugar-Free Gum (or candy!): Xylitol, or birch sugar, may be safe for humans, but can be deadly when ingested by a cat or dog. Xylitol causes a very severe drop in blood sugar that can happen within minutes after ingestion. Pets may become lethargic, unable to walk and start having seizures. If they survive the initial symptoms, they often will have severe liver damage and potentially fatal liver failure. This is the most dangerous type of Halloween candy for pets.
🕸️ Chocolate Covered Raisins: These candies have an extra layer of toxicity, because both chocolate and raisins are toxic to dogs and cats. Raisins (and other grape products) can cause severe kidney failure. The two of these combined is the ultimate toxic nightmare for pets. If your pet eats any chocolate covered raisins this Halloween, take them to your veterinarian immediately for treatment.
🍬Candy with Wrappers: Unlike you and I, our pets don't tend to unwrap candies. The plastic/foil wrappers can potentially lead to intestinal obstructions and other GI irritations. Make sure these tempting treats are out of their reach!
🔮 As always, prevention is the best medicine, but if your pet gets into trouble we are here to help! Have a fun and safe Halloween!
👻 We would love to see your pets dressed up in the comments below!
