🐾 Runt is young and vocal, and loves attention! She needs a home without other cats.
🌳 Juniper is a domestic shorthair who can be a bit sassy. She was brought in due to a biting incident, but we haven't had any issues with her since and have found her to be very sweet!
💗 Macey is a large boy, who can be a bit timid. Given some time to warm up, he is very sweet!

Our sweet boy Ace is still looking for his forever home!

💗 Ace is an energetic and loving Shepherd and Husky mix, who loves everyone he meets.

🐾 Ace walks well on a leash, knows how to sit for a treat, does well with kids and other dogs, and loves pets and cuddles.

🐕 Ace would likely do best in a home that can provide him with basic training and plenty of exercise to help him learn to manage his energy. If Ace catches your eye, stop by the shelter during our open hours to meet him, or click the link below to learn more about him!

Gracie had her first Magnawave session today and did really well for her first time. We are going to put her on a weekly schedule and do exercises in the mean time to help build muscle in her rear end! Thank you Shawntae with Dierwood Farm LLC for coming out to the shelter to help this sweet girl!

Gracie update number 2

Today marks three weeks and she is up twenty pounds! Not only is looking much better she is also feeling so much better. Her muscle mass has greatly improved in her rear legs however she is still super uncoordinated and drags her rear feet on the ground often. She finally just gained the ability to sit down and be able to slowly get back up! She currently enjoys getting all the love/attention she can, snack time every 3 hours, exploring the yards, and “helping” the guys feed all the other dogs and ensuring no stray kibble is left behind! Her dislikes consists of anything that has to do with going into the grooming room and being put up at the end of the day. As she’s become comfortable with the safety net we’ve created for her, she’s recently become uncomfortable when new people come into the lobby (mostly men), and she super doesn’t appreciate when another animal explores her “space”.

Everyone wants to adopt the “under dog” but Gracie needs a very specific home due to her “handicap” issues. She needs a home without stairs due to her inability to pick her rear feet up high enough, even if it temporarily improves longevity is questionable. She is super uncoordinated on her own 4 feet so she needs a calm home without rambunctious dogs, she’s also selective with other dogs and she’s a tad too interested in cats. She needs someone who understands accidents happen. She was completely incontinent when she came in but hasn’t had an accident all week while we’re there during the day! Also a wire crate is NOT something she could safely and comfortably be contained in due to her spine. She needs someone who will be dedicated to rehabbing her, helping her build muscle in her rear end, and someone who is patient enough to help her continue to relearn how to walk/run/play/live. Anyone who’s participated in physical therapy for an animal knows it isn’t a cheap excursion, and it takes commitment to help improve an animals quality of life to be as independent as possible! Next week she will be having a Magna-wave session as we look into other therapy possibilities for her and continue this journey. Our goal is to get her more stable on her feet to keep her going as long as she can. She will likely never be “normal” due to her spinal injury and as she ages it will be a struggle again.

It has been a joy to watch her come back alive and just be a happy care-free girl running around the yard! She was so defeated when she came in and the light was so dim in her eyes, thanks to her “owners”. Once she felt a soft hand, had some healthy meals, discovered big comfy beds, and learned what it’s like to be a loved dog, she lit up and began fighting so thank you for bringing her in to us after you failed to dispose of her. We’ll do our best to ensure she never has to suffer at the hand of a human again!

Two of our longer residents found their perfect homes today! These two have been struggling with shelter stress and have lost a lot of weight over the last few months so we couldn’t be happier than to see them go to their forever homes finally! Orion has been with us for a long 538 days and is the sweetest lug around! Our dainty Nova girl has been back for 189 days and just not handling the shelter life well after being in a quiet home environment. We can’t thank these two families enough for welcoming our middle aged pups into their home this year! Can’t wait to see their updates in a few months when they’re back up to healthy weights and happy mentally! 🐾
