I had an eventful unplanned day yesterday! These 2 BAD pigs went on a wild adventure all throughout the woods and ALL over our property! Ryan was at work and I was chasing these pigs like a wild woman! Even though I had the thought of dropping these pigs I did not🤣
we had 3 cantaloupe casualties and I'm pretty bummed about that! All this with only 28 days till butcher! Needless to say I'm ready for these pigs to get in our freezer! They always seem to do something stupid close to their butcher date. First photo is the BAD pigs second photo is the good pigs that weren't bothered by any of the chaos and just laid in the mud while their sisters took a 2 hour adventure!!

🚨I figured I would post here first before I post in any groups because it is easier. These guys need a new job! Whether that be protecting your flock, being yard birds or becoming dinner they gotta go! They are around 4 months old pasture raised and non GMO fed. Barred rock, Easter eggers and some barnyard mix (which consists of barred rock, dark brahma, Rhode Island red, Olive eggers). I believe I have 7 available (can go together or separate). I'm asking $8 each cause they be eating a lot 🤣🤣

We have lots of peppers available sugar rush peach, jalapeno and banana peppers. I also have a few bell peppers (priced by size). $5 per container on hot peppers. These sugar rush peach peppers are delicious and prolific! Cherry tomatoes $4 per container.
The garden is full of life like she should be!
NO pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers.
We like to plant extra for the insects and wildlife and keep chemicals away from our animals and gardens!
We believe that if something is not eating your garden neither should you!! Creating healthy ecosystems for insects and wildlife is a must for me! We have plenty to share with all of our creepy crawlies and furry friends.

We have several young (13/20weeks) roosters up for discussion here at the homestead. A few with feathered legs. 1 black copper maran, a couple different breeds of Easter eggers and a couple from my flock which is barred rock roosters over a variety of hens barred rock, Rhode Island reds, dark brahma and more. I plan to separate them out this week and get better photos and an actual head count. I probably have 5or6.

We still have quite a few plants still available in the greenhouse! We have some beautiful petunias (colors vary), tomatoes (slicers bonneys best and stripies), a few artichokes, peppers (up potted into bigger pots and producing. sweet,mild and hot), dill, fennel and echinacea.
I'm ready to let most of these plants go for a decent price so message us for pricing or as always come see us at the farmers market each Saturday.

Let the daily cucumber watch begin! It has been a whole year since I have had a nice homegrown cucumber. They are so sweet young and tender. They honestly are amazing 🤤
Needless to say I don't think these cucumbers will be making it to the market tomorrow 🤣

I have been terrible at keeping everyone updated with the growth of the homestead lately and that is wholeheartedly because things are growing! Pigs are happy, healthy, growing and doing pig things and we will be starting the 2 week (ish) butchering process of our 100 meat chickens on Monday.

Here is the reality of raising your own meat chickens. They eat A LOT and grow VERY fast. I highly recommend if you are looking to raise your own meat do a ton of research before taking the dive! At this point we have done this many times and are completely aware. (Don't forget I am the ultimate crazy chicken lady 😅) These chicks have access to food and fresh water 24/7 but you would think they have been starved if the feeders get remotely low. I will be upgrading these guys and gals feeder once they are big enough to reach it.

I tell y'all time and time again! There is no need to till your garden!!👏👏 Give her carbon, give her nitrogen and keep her covered and she will forever thank you!! This soil is so healthy and alive!! It's a joy to work her❤️

I got the potato bed prepped today. Now we are just waiting on seed potatoes to come in! Remember guys tilling is not always best or necessary. Leave all that organic matter in place. She may look brown now but she is so healthy and thriving! There is so much life in this soil that we have only been working for 2 years! She's light, she's fluffy, and most definitely she's living!❤️
