Meet Tex!

Tex is an approximate 5-6 year old Shepherd mix. He has not been neutered but is vaccinated and microchipped. He is 56 lbs.

Tex needs your help! Tex was found running as a stray and unfortunately was found with a broken leg. His owners sadly never reclaimed him.

Our friends at Noah’s Brandywine examined Tex and performed radiographs on his leg. Tex was found to have shrapnel or possible bullet fragments in his front left leg. This appears to be an older injury and as you can see from the picture, Tex likes to use that leg for extremely cute pictures! Tex will be scheduled to have his leg amputated as soon as we can get him in. His injuries however do not impair him one single bit! He is very sweet and gets around amazingly well! Tex does well with other dogs too and would be a great addition to a family.
We are looking for a Foster to adopt home for Tex. GHAM will cover the cost of his neuter and leg amputation but Tex will need a home to recover in.
Please consider inviting Tex into your home and help us give this poor guy the chance that he deserves.

Adopted!

GHAM currently has an approximately 1 year old male Doberman. He is not neutered and will need to stay within Hancock county. He is also very timid and would do best in a quiet home with children over 12. He does ok with other dogs but less dominant dogs would also be best. He is going to need someone understanding that has patience to work with him. He does prefer women. His adoption fee is $25. 🐾❤️🐾

GHAM has over 70 cats and kittens right now! Here are just a few of our available kittens. We will be moving kittens onto the adoption floor every day as they become old enough to be adopted. All kittens come microchipped, have age appropriate vaccines/dewormings, and are spayed/neutered or will come with a certificate for those services to be performed.

The shelter is currently running free adoptions on all animals through this Saturday in an attempt to make space to help more.

We are open Monday-Friday 9:30-3:30 and this Saturday from 9:30-12:30 for adoptions.

Meet Mia!

Mia has been through so much! Her previous owner passed away and the family was unable to care for her. Mia is absolutely TERRIFIED at the shelter. This poor baby needs out asap! Mia is panting, shaking and has actually rubbed the skin off of her poor little nose from being here. Mia is a 3 year old spayed Pit mix. She is good with dogs, cats, kids and is also potty trained. She is approximately 40 lbs.

Her adoption is fee is free! Please help us find Mia a home!

The shelter is at capacity!

We are currently housing approximately 35 dogs and around 70 cats at the shelter. We have many highly adoptable animals including a couple of puppies and several kittens.

All adoption fees are being WAIVED at this time in an attempt to help clear the shelter. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please share this post and help us find these precious babies the homes that they deserve!

🚨 At this time we are also not able to take in any animals. We have 0 cages open for intakes. If you find a stray animal please be prepared to hold it for a few days until space is made in the shelter. If you’re needing to surrender your own pet please understand that we have no cages to take them right now so you will have to keep them until space is made. We will address emergency intakes as they come.

We currently have 4 dogs that are 6 months old or younger. They are not all related.

The Brindle (female) and solid black (male) are approximately 3-4 mo old.
The other two are 6-7 months old and both females.

Their adoption fees are all $25, which includes a spay/neuter certificate for services to be performed. They will need to all be in county adoptions since they are not altered yet.

Come meet them tomorrow from 930-1230!

Kong has been busy this morning picking his toys to put in his overnight bag! 🐾❤️
Kong gets along great with other K9 housemates but does not like cats.

Did you know we offer 3 day foster to adopt trials? You can foster an animal for 3 days to see if it would be a good fit in your home before committing to a full adoption. Fosters do have to remain in Hancock co.

We do not understand how Rosie is still here! She is a total sweetheart and has the most unique markings!
Rosie has been here for 78 days and has gotten little interest. She 6 years old, spayed and up to date on her vaccines. If you’re interested in Rosie please come visit the shelter today until 3:30.
