🐾Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic Announcement🐾

Good morning!

Circle of Friends Animal Society next clinic for spay/neuter will take place on Tuesday, July 30th at Durham Veterinary Clinic. If you have a cat or dog that is not spayed or neutered, we highly encourage you to think about utilizing this opportunity. Shelters and rescues all around are quickly filling up, if they are not already full, and even just one individual having their animal spayed/neutered can help lessen the load on workers in the animal industry.

Please share this post, it is vital that we reach as many as we can with information as important as this!

🐾🩷ADOPTED🩷🐾

Our sweet Luna Bug was adopted this week, and we are so happy for her! We could not have asked for a better home than the one she went to, her new family is already spoiling and loving this angel! She has one excited little girl to keep her company, play dress up, and give her all the love she deserves, what could be better than that?!

Here she is pictured after going home, and we think she is rocking the jammies. You're one lucky girl Luna! 🤩

This cutie was found hanging out in the Cedar Grove Rd area and has been there since late yesterday evening. If this dog may belong to you or someone you know, please reach out to our office as soon as possible to reclaim. This cutie was brought into our office this morning! Found in the Bramlett Rd area and has been hanging out there for the last (3) days. If this dog belongs to you or someone you know, please reach out to our office to reclaim. As always, we require proof of ownership to ensure the animal is going home with it's true owner.

Good morning!

We have recently had people within the community ask about donations and what our shelter could use.

The Queen Pumpkin is here to answer your questions: TREATS! Her only request is that the treats are "biscuit" type treats, for example, milk bone biscuits etc., her and her friends like those best. The brand is not a huge deal, they will eat most any, although we do normally house medium to large size dogs, so mini treats are not as efficient for our use.

If you would like to make a donation to Queen Punky's wish list for her and her friend's, you can drop items off by our office at any time. If our staff should be out on calls/the office is locked, you can always leave donations by the door.

This is our sweet Diamond Girl, if you look under "Pocket Dog" in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Diamond. As the pictures show, she never wants to be far from you. She prances and looks pretty, is amazing on leash, no accidents in her kennel, and it appears with proper introduction she will be good with other dogs, unsure on cats. Diamond is up to date on all vaccines and has already been spayed. She would make a great companion for someone, with her laid back demeanor she will chill with the best of them.

The stray hold is up on this sweet boy, and he is available for adoption! He was brought in by the City of Greensboro and has been a breeze to have here. He walks well on leash, has not had any accidents in his kennel, and is sweet as can be. We believe he would make a great addition to someone's family! It appears as though with proper introduction he will be okay with other dogs, unsure on cats.

This week is National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, so in light of that our office would like to highlight a few people in the animal control career field who are dedicated to serving our community.

With Greene County Animal Control, we have Officer Victoria Wiggins, with Greensboro Animal Control we have Officer Nerocus Peaks, and last but not least, with Union Point Animal Control we have Officer Will Wright.

I would like to take the time to thank these women and men for their unwavering dedication and service to their respective jurisdictions within Greene County, though not always at the forefront, they are present day in and day out, making sure that not only the animals of the community are safe and cared for, but for playing a role in protecting the public's safety as well. This office commends them for their sacrifices of long hours, hard work, on call shifts going into late hours, and handling of difficult situations daily. It's a role they fill with unwavering confidence, and for that we are appreciative.

Good afternoon! Let's spread some safety awareness today!

While we're not in the dawg days of summer yet, temperatures are steadily on the rise as we make our way further into spring. It does not take temperatures as high as some would think to start posing safety issues for your pets.

Whether you're walking your pet on a sidewalk, through a parking lot, or taking them on a ride while you run errands, please be mindful of the outside temperatures, and how quickly things can heat up!

Below we have charts pictured for tentative temperatures and time frames (a very short amount of time) for the asphalt or your vehicle to heat up to unsafe levels to have your pets exposed to!

A success story that is close to our hearts, no joking around!!

Khloe Bug has been with us since August of 2023, waiting and wishing for the most perfect home. Today, she was granted that. It was a bittersweet moment for the staff to let her go, but we could not have been prouder to know that she is going to a home that is going to love and spoil her, for the rest of her days!

Here's to the rest of your life Khloe Girl, we wish you the best in your new venture of being a "human owner", and we can't wait for the good updates to come!

Good morning! We would like to share some exciting news!

Starting Monday, April the 1st, The City of Greensboro will have their Animal Control Department up and running. This is a great step for the citizens/residents of the city.

Greensboro Animal Control will be running out of the Greensboro Police Department. You can reach them at (706)-453-7555 and ask to be transferred to their Animal Control Officer. Again, this will be for the City Limits of Greensboro.

We ask that everyone be patient with their new department as they get up and running, and we hope you guys are as thrilled as we are!

Good morning!

Our office will be closed tomorrow, Friday 3/29, in observance of Good Friday. We will resume regular business hours of 8am-5pm, Monday April the 1st.

We have another success story!

This sweet boy was such a pleasure to have while he was here with us, but we are so happy to announce that as of yesterday he went home to be with his new family! We are so excited for him, and we know he will make a great addition, we wish you many more years of being loved and spoiled buddy!

It's that time again! The Dawgy Dash 5K is coming up in May! This awesome event is put on by Circle of Friends Animal Society annually at the Oconee Brewing Company, and proceeds go back into helping animals in our community. This is an awesome way to get the community involved, and we hope you all can make it this year. See the poster pictured below for information needed to register to be a part of the 5K!

Let's talk about:

🩺🪱 HEARTWORMS 🪱🩺

Warm weather is approaching, which means soon, mosquitoes will be back out full force, pestering not only you, but your pets as well. A bite from a mosquito that is carrying mature larvae could result in your pet suffering from contracting heartworms. It can take up to 6 months after a bite from an infected mosquito for your pet to test positive for heartworms at the vet, at which point the once larvae have now reached the heart and have matured. Overtime, some can even reach the length of 12in, and to top it off, they are constantly producing offspring. This can be detrimental to your pet's health and even become fatal. Treatment for a heartworm positive pet can be costly, extremely taxing on your pet's wellbeing, and also has the potential to be fatal.

So, what can be done? Keep your pet on PREVENTATIVES! Speak with your local or preferred vet about the options there are for heartworm prevention, at what age your pet can begin the preventions, set a plan, and stick with it! We have the ability to prevent our pets, and ourselves, from being in this position, make sure you're utilizing it!

Good afternoon! We would love to take this opportunity to share some recent success stories on some very lucky doggos!

First up we have who we liked to call Fox, he was pulled by the Circle of Friends Animal Society, and recently went to an adoption event! He was such a sweetheart while here, and we are so thankful to this organization for giving him a chance! He is such a flashy sweet guy; we know it won't be long until they find him a furever home!

Next up on the list is the teddy bear of a Shepard Mix, shown being the funny, good boy he is, his time here was enjoyable, as he was such a docile guy! He was recently adopted into a home, who is sending him through training so that he can always be on his best manners, and we know he will ace that! Congrats, big guy!

Last, but certainly not least, we have the shy beagle guy! We would like to extend a huge thank you to The Oconee Regional Humane Society for taking the time to show love to the more reserved dog of the group, but a love bug, nonetheless. He is going to have such a great time learning how to be a very spoiled and lucky dog in the foster home they have set up for him, so be on the lookout for updates!

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to look at what we have, to the rescues for giving these guys a second chance, and to the ones who choose to adopt from our facility! These success stories would not be possible without you!

Our office has recently had an increase in early morning calls, our office hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. However, during the first hour of our day, we are typically in the shelter holding area, cleaning and caring for the animals that we have in. She is such a gentle, sweet soul, and we are so happy that she is getting the chance with ORHS to really get out there and be seen! During her time here she was a quiet, polite, and loving doggo, and we just know she is going to make someone the best pet!
