‼️ATTENTION PET OWNERS‼️

I think we are all well aware of how cold it is outside, and the temperatures are not projected to rise above freezing for an extended amount of time.

Please make sure that you have adequate measures in place for your pets during this cold front. Although we absolutely encourage that pets be brought inside during weather like this, we do understand that is not always an option for everyone. You can still make sure that they are being kept warm by ensuring they have access to shelter, food, and unfrozen water. We encourage the use of straw in dog houses/cat shelters as that will help hold in their body heat for warmth. A well fed and hydrated animal is better able to regulate their temperature and help with natural insulation to help withstand the cold.

We hope everyone as well as all pets stay warm and safe during the weather that is headed our way!

‼️ATTENTION RESCUES‼️

This is sweet Juneau (like Juneau, Alaska). We feel she would do best in a rescue/foster environment. She needs a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does you won't be able to shake her. She is so loving and is eager for all the attention you will give her.

Juneau is potty trained, leash trained, seems to do well with other dogs, and is good overall in her kennel. Once she comes in, she is content with laying down and hanging out. She is FULLY vetted to include spay and microchip and is ready to go when you are! We want this girl to have a great opportunity to gain some confidence with new human friends and find her loving furever home.

Please share so we can get Juneau girl out there, and if you are/work for a rescue and have interest in her please do not hesitate to reach out to our office. This girl is going to make someone so happy; we just know it!

‼️SNOW DAY‼️

Our office will be closed today due to the weather!

Please be mindful of the temperatures, as well as the snow and ice in the following days. Make sure your pets have adequate areas to get out of this weather and somewhere warm, preferably inside if at all possible.

Be mindful of toe beans on the cold ground, as well as ice, a slip and a fall for you or your pet is not gonna make for a fun snow day!

Everyone be safe and enjoy the pretty snow!

🐾AMAZING NEWS🐾

Snowball and Petey went to Thomasville Humane today! Petey has been with us since August, and Snowball since October. We are so thankful to them for giving these two cuties a chance! We just know they will thrive and find the best homes with this organization. Thank you so much for giving them a chance!

12/11/2024

We would like to send out a huge thank you to Lake Oconee Area Builders Association for graciously giving our office gift cards to Chewy, to spoil the animals we have here just in time for Christmas! This will help tremendously, not only with things that are needed on a daily basis, but for some wants from our wish list as well.

Thank you, so much, we think Pumpkin may be the most excited out of all of us, she is thinking about all the cookies and treats they will be getting! 🐾🩷💙

🩷🐾COURTESY POST🐾🩷

This is a courtesy post for a dog that is currently being cared for by a family who is unable to keep her long term. She is NOT in the care of GCAC. If you have questions or are interested, you can contact our office, and we will get you in touch with the individual who is currently caring for her. This is what we were told:

This is Hope, who is estimated to be between 4-6 years old. She is a very sweet girl, gets along great with other dogs and cats, is leash trained, house broken, as well as crate trained, which is her safe space and where she sleeps each night. She has been looked over by the vet and is heartworm negative. Hope is looking for her forever home!

Please share so we can get this girl out there!

❗️❄️Colder Weather❄️❗️

As we are sure everyone is aware, we have started to get down to some pretty chilly temperatures at night now. Let's talk about how to best prepare for this!

We encourage everyone to keep their dogs inside when the temperatures drop, BUT we also know that is not an option for everyone, and we encourage others to be mindful of that as well. If you have to keep your pet outside, these are some of the things you need to have prepared for them.

A secure, enclosed doghouse! An enclosed doghouse like the one pictured below is going to be the safest and warmest option for your pet, this is going to keep the wind/chill out, and also hold in body heat. See the picture below for tips and tricks to make dog houses more suitable for winter temps.

Make sure your pet has access to fresh food and water. Making sure they are receiving the proper nutrients is a big part of their body doing its job, which is keeping them warm.

Please be mindful that some dogs can withstand colder weather better than others. Size and weight have a lot to do with that, as well as certain breeds. A small dog cannot withstand the same temperatures that a large dog can.

Let's keep those pets safe this winter, prepare ahead of time, and stay warm!
