Let’s talk peonies…we don’t wait until they are fully open to cut them. Why??? Because by then, you have already lost so many days of vase life.

See how the peony doesn’t look like a flower yet in pics 1-3? This is how we cut them. So you can see them develop once you get them home. And they’ll last sooooo much longer for you.

Maybe I’ll do a story/post to show you when to cut them. Would that be helpful?

This is what happens when I go out of town for a few days. I come back to flowers that have already bloomed(which, unfortunately means I will not sell them bc they don’t last as long as if they were cut early)!!!

But that means I just get to enjoy them myself. And y’all know how much I love flowers all around the house.

It’s a lovely day!! But only because I have fresh flowers. Ranunculus are slowly blooming! And as much as I hate this cold rainy weather, these cool temps are perfect for them. They HATE the heat.

Hopefully they can hold on until bouquet subscriptions start in May.

What do you do when your daughter has a school project and needs a tiny tennis ball?

You improvise with what you know!!!

Serena’s ball is actually a dried craspedia flower.

Such profound words from

Some days I can’t believe that this is my life. I get to play in the dirt, planting the seeds that will eventually bring beauty into this dark world.

But some days I get frustrated and overwhelmed by the simplest things. Perspective makes me realize that it is a privilege to do the things I get to do! God is so good and I pray that He uses me to influence those around me. For good!! So I will press on until the day He calls me home, being thankful for it all, the good and the bad. Because it is a privilege.

When I first started growing flowers, this is the verse that kept coming to mind.

And it still does!!

I am reminded everyday how insignificant I am in this business. I can plant and water, but God!!! He can do so much more. He proves that, everyday, in even the smallest things!!!

Every season is a new thing learned. This season is that I should have planted Bachelor Buttons again. I now realize how much bouquets need this pop of color and texture. Definitely will be back in the rotation next Spring.

Spring is the best time to grow white flowers!

Why?? Because the light petals are susceptible to bug damage and the hotter it gets, the more bugs we have to fight.

Sweet William, nigella, agrostemma and peony

Blue Glitter Eryngium(aka sea holly)

I planted these over a year ago and they’re just starting to flower. I’m almost giddy with excitement.

Do you see the growth from just one day? It’s hard to tell from the picture, but it’s quite impressive in person.

A HUGE thank you to my helper today. This is my son Grant and he’s probably going to kill me for posting this pic, but I’m so grateful for his servant’s heart. He is always willing to help me without question and without any attitude. Although he’s only 17, he’s the polar opposite of a teenager. I just love him so❤️

*btw, he doesn’t normally dress this stylish to work in the yard(😂boots and shorts😂) He jumped out of bed and came right outside when I called him to help me. And even ‘posed’ for this evidence!!*

Thinning out the larkspur today. Not a fun chore but so necessary. The end goal is one plant per 6” so anything more than that gets to go in the compost bin. Otherwise the extra plants will starve the others and nothing will grow well. This chore used to be so hard to do, but not anymore. I’ve seen how well it works to produce an amazing flower.

Reminds me of life. We have to take out all the “extra” to be able to reach our full potential and grow into what God has called us to do. What do you need to cut out so that you can grow to be your best??
