Let’s talk peonies…we don’t wait until they are fully open to cut them. Why??? Because by then, you have already lost so many days of vase life.

See how the peony doesn’t look like a flower yet in pics 1-3? This is how we cut them. So you can see them develop once you get them home. And they’ll last sooooo much longer for you.

Maybe I’ll do a story/post to show you when to cut them. Would that be helpful?

This is what happens when I go out of town for a few days. I come back to flowers that have already bloomed(which, unfortunately means I will not sell them bc they don’t last as long as if they were cut early)!!!

But that means I just get to enjoy them myself. And y’all know how much I love flowers all around the house.

It’s a lovely day!! But only because I have fresh flowers. Ranunculus are slowly blooming! And as much as I hate this cold rainy weather, these cool temps are perfect for them. They HATE the heat.

Hopefully they can hold on until bouquet subscriptions start in May.

Some days I can’t believe that this is my life. I get to play in the dirt, planting the seeds that will eventually bring beauty into this dark world.

But some days I get frustrated and overwhelmed by the simplest things. Perspective makes me realize that it is a privilege to do the things I get to do! God is so good and I pray that He uses me to influence those around me. For good!! So I will press on until the day He calls me home, being thankful for it all, the good and the bad. Because it is a privilege.

When I first started growing flowers, this is the verse that kept coming to mind.

And it still does!!

I am reminded everyday how insignificant I am in this business. I can plant and water, but God!!! He can do so much more. He proves that, everyday, in even the smallest things!!!

Did you know that asparagus takes 3 years to get established enough to pick?? Guess we should have planted it years ago. So if you think you might want to add asparagus to your garden, you should start now. Better late than never!!

Today’s flowers went to a dear friend who has supported my small business from the very beginning.

Peony, bupleurum, nigella, snapdragons, larkspur, sweet William, statice and covent garden. So thankful for friends that believe in me and encourage me just when I need it❤️

My favorite time of the day is just before the sun sets. It’s breathtaking! And, the flowers look their best at that time, too!! You know it’s always about the flowers.

Every season is a new thing learned. This season is that I should have planted Bachelor Buttons again. I now realize how much bouquets need this pop of color and texture. Definitely will be back in the rotation next Spring.

Spring is the best time to grow white flowers!

Why?? Because the light petals are susceptible to bug damage and the hotter it gets, the more bugs we have to fight.
