🐾 Help Us To Help The Shelter to Continue the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program! 🐾
In 2024, the Greensburg-Decatur County Animal Shelter began its Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program — a humane and effective way to manage our community cat population. Through TNR, community cats are safely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor homes. This process helps stabilize colonies and prevents hundreds of kittens from being born into tough outdoor conditions.
Thanks to grant funding, the shelter has been able to keep this life-saving program going — but those funds will be depleted by the end of November.
At our October 21, 2025 meeting, the Friends of the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter voted to use existing donations that we have received to cover the next TNR transport of 26 cats in December, at a cost of $1,761.50 — preventing an estimated 312 kitten births! 🐱💙
Now, we need your help to keep the program running into the new year.
Your donation will help ensure the shelter can continue TNR efforts in January and February, giving time to the shelter to reapply for new grant funding and preventing the cycle of overpopulation from starting again.
💛 Every dollar makes a difference — and every cat fixed means fewer kittens in need.
