REFUNDABLE Surgery deposit $50
Cats/kittens are $60.00
Dogs/puppies $85.00
Adoption fees include the pets spay/neuter, flea/worming medicine, microchip, first year vaccines and rabies vaccine. The shelter will no longer pay for the following items. Owners will be required to pay the extra surgery cost at the time of pick-up for their animals.

A few reminders to the public:

1. We ask that you please watch your dog when it is outside, especially if it is a purebred. We have had an incident with a missing pet that was found quite a distance from Decatur County, the dog had been stolen and had been posted for sale on Craigslist. Help us help keep your pets safe.

2. Please think twice before using sites such as Craigslist to re-home your pet. As sad as it is, people use free pets from these sights as bait dogs in order to train their fighting dogs. Please consider using a local shelter, humane society, or rescue as a safe alternative to re-home your pet. Please contact your local shelter with any questions.

‼️‼️ATTENTION‼️‼️

As some of you may know we will be CLOSED during fair week(July 10 - July 16).

▪️We do this because it stresses out the animals tremendously. In the past, animals adopted during fair week have a high rate of being returned.

▪️We will not be doing any intakes during this week.
- What to do when you find a stray
- Call the non emergency line at the Police Department. They will direct you from there.

▪️The animals will still be taken care of everyday!
We also use this time for the shelter workers to deep clean the building!

▪️Stay safe, have fun and come see us at the concessions in the pits!!

We have a litter of cutie pie kittens and their momma in foster that are currently ready for their forever homes!! The kittens are right at 12 weeks old. The two male kittens have already been fixed. Momma and the girls are scheduled to be fixed on August 7th. During Empty The Shelters, our cat/kitten adoption fee is only $20, and they still come fully vetted!! You can reach out to us if you're interested and we will help coordinate a meet and greet time with the foster parents! Their names and genders are under their photos.

This is Alaska when he came in vs now! He has been with us for 59 days. He is 12 weeks old and already neutered. Alaska uses the litter box and eats solid kitten food well. He is extremely playful. He'll literally play with anything from toys to a scrap of paper 😂 Alaska can be a little standoffish and shy at first, but he warms up quickly! He is a cat who prefers not to be held. He likes to do his own thing, but he is sure to crack you up. Stop by the shelter if you're interested in adopting this spunky boy!

My name is Titan, and I have a long story to tell. I've been struggling to find my forever home. I used to live at a Humane Society, and I lived there for a really long time. I lost count of how many days I spent in that kennel, watching people pass me by. Then I got transferred to a new shelter, the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter. The ride here was scary, but I was so excited to meet new people and for new people to meet me! I stayed here for 39 days until a family decided to give me a chance! They were the BEST and I loved them so much. They told everyone that I was the bestest, goodest boy. 🥹 I was so happy that I found my forever home. Until they had to move, and I had to come back to my kennel. They say I've been back for 46 days, but really the days blur together. I can't keep track of how many times the sun rises and sets. I can't stop barking, yelling out for someone to hear me. To save me. I try so hard to bust out of this kennel. I even accidentally scratched my head. I can't handle all the other dogs barking all the time. I'm so heart broken and I'm losing hope. The light at the end of the tunnel seems farther and farther away, always out of my reach. All I need is just one person to give me a chance, to give me my hope back. To bring me back to the light. I promise to be the best boy. Please 😞

It's that time of year again for July 4th festivities. Shelters all across America get flooded with frightened pets who run off during the Fireworks

The excitement of Fireworks can be overwhelming for Pets. Here are some great tips to help prepare your furry friends for safety this year.

Fun fact, you can purchase a collar at the dollar store and use a sharpie to write your pets information on in the event it is lost or runs off.

Microchipping your pet is always best, the shelter offers microchipping for $30. If you cannot microchip, and you find your pet missing after the 4th of July, call us please to see if your pet is here. Also always check surrounding shelters as well. Have a safe 4th of July!

Do we have any grey cat lovers?? 🖤🖤 We have 3 available kittens ready for their forever homes! There are two boys and one girl (names and genders are on their photos). They are 10 weeks old and eating kitten food. They're using the litter box well and have received their first round of vaccines and flea/worm treatment. A microchip is also included with the adoption. Each adoption fee is $110 and $50 of that is refunded after they are fixed.

We offer companion animals for adoption. Cats are $75.00 Puppies up to 6 months are $125 Dogs 6 months and over are $100.00

There is a pre-adoption application that must be filled out with a $25 application fee.
