Job 12: 7,10
My name is Ange (McGinnis) Olt and I am a mixed animal veterinarian practicing in Greensburg, KY. Almost 10 years ago I went on my first international mission trip to Honduras with Baptist Medical and Dental Missions International (www.bmdmi.org ) and the rest is history... I hope this page will help to show the impact that can be made through veterinary missions. What we do in the f
ield.... We help the people of Honduras by helping their animals. Many times their livestock not only provide them with income, but they also provide them with food and transportation. We deworm and vaccinate cattle, sheep/goats, horse/donkeys, pigs as well as companion animals such as dogs and cats. In third world countries such as Honduras, which is one of the poorest in Central America, zoonotic diseases are of major concern. With poor water quality and hygiene, the transmission of diseases/parasites between humans and animals are inevitable. Everything must be thought of. From needles and syringes, hand soap, gloves, to surgical supplies and the medications, everything must be purchased or donated. I have been very fortunate to work with vaccine and drug companies that have big hearts! The community of Greensburg and my hometown of Monticello have also been of great support. It is through the use of donations that I am able to go, to treat, and to share God's word through His love. I understand that international missions may not be for everyone. But I do believe that as Christians we are to follow the Great Commission... To spread His word. Whether it is through donations (monetary or supplies), by going to help yourself or through prayer for those who go, it is our responsibility to spread His work and love. I will close with one of my favorite quotes by Oswald J Smith, a Canadian pastor and missionary. He summed it up best when he said “No one has the right to hear the gospel twice while there remains someone who has never heard it once”…. “ For we talk of the Second Coming when over half the world has never heard of the first.”
Thank you for your support and prayers. If you would like to help support my mission you may contact me at [email protected]
