In His Hand Veterinary Missions

In His Hand Veterinary Missions "But ask the animals and they will teach you, for in His hand is the life of every creature." The supplies used in field are all from donations.

Job 12: 7,10

My name is Ange (McGinnis) Olt and I am a mixed animal veterinarian practicing in Greensburg, KY. Almost 10 years ago I went on my first international mission trip to Honduras with Baptist Medical and Dental Missions International (www.bmdmi.org ) and the rest is history... I hope this page will help to show the impact that can be made through veterinary missions. What we do in the f

ield.... We help the people of Honduras by helping their animals. Many times their livestock not only provide them with income, but they also provide them with food and transportation. We deworm and vaccinate cattle, sheep/goats, horse/donkeys, pigs as well as companion animals such as dogs and cats. In third world countries such as Honduras, which is one of the poorest in Central America, zoonotic diseases are of major concern. With poor water quality and hygiene, the transmission of diseases/parasites between humans and animals are inevitable. Everything must be thought of. From needles and syringes, hand soap, gloves, to surgical supplies and the medications, everything must be purchased or donated. I have been very fortunate to work with vaccine and drug companies that have big hearts! The community of Greensburg and my hometown of Monticello have also been of great support. It is through the use of donations that I am able to go, to treat, and to share God's word through His love. I understand that international missions may not be for everyone. But I do believe that as Christians we are to follow the Great Commission... To spread His word. Whether it is through donations (monetary or supplies), by going to help yourself or through prayer for those who go, it is our responsibility to spread His work and love. I will close with one of my favorite quotes by Oswald J Smith, a Canadian pastor and missionary. He summed it up best when he said “No one has the right to hear the gospel twice while there remains someone who has never heard it once”…. “ For we talk of the Second Coming when over half the world has never heard of the first.”

Thank you for your support and prayers. If you would like to help support my mission you may contact me at [email protected]

Still trying to process the events of the past 10 days. What started as blurry vision over a year ago, has come and gone. We were able to bless so many people this week with the amount of hygiene items, tools, clothes, and basic supplies that we collected over the past year and were finally able to distribute. We “planted seeds” and showed God’s love. Team members saw first hand the daily life of people in a third world country. The cultural differences and lack of comforts of home were a vast contrast to what many are accustomed to. At the end of our trip we are able pack our suitcases to head home. We head back to our clean drinking water, our comfy beds, our Kroger clicklist shopping, our McDonald’s chicken nuggets, and the list goes on. We go back and we go on with life as we know it. I pray the impact we made on the lives of those we encountered last longer than the consumable supplies we left them with. For their today looks a lot like their yesterday, and their tomorrow will likely be more of the same they endured today. I pray we never forget the faces of the Honduran people, we never forget their stories, and we never forget that we are so blessed and it’s our job to share those blessings.

Proverbs 16:3
“Commit your works to the Lord, And your plans will be established.”

Our Venmo link had a few hiccups but is now up and working!!!

Remember, every 5.00 counts. It provides a family with rice and beans, provides vaccinations for their livestock that not only provide them a safe food source, but provides them with the ability to plow and sow their fields, and even be transportation. It will help to give them the written word, in Spanish, that they can have for a lifetime. Your 5.00 goes such a long way. It shows the love of Jesus to people hundreds of miles away… Your help makes a difference.
