Two years ago VetPets of SWPA and Top Dog made a promise! We promised the veterans and the VA hospitals that we would begin a new journey with them to find the perfect Therpay dogs and place them and train them for our local veterans and workers. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Reflection on today:

Mercy continues her training and her work as the VA therapy dog in the Oakland facility. She works daily Monday through Friday with staff and patients. 🦮

Top Dog communicates and travels weekly to continue our dedication of ongoing therapy dog training! 🐕‍🦺

VetPets has taken care of ALL medical bills and food expenses for Mercy and the VA. 🏥⚕️

This joint effort with Mercy has impacted thousands of lives at one of the busiest VA hospitals in the country!

Looking forward:

We continue to keep our training commitments in place indefinitely at the Oakland facility with Mercy.

We explore the possibility of placing and training a second therapy dog for the Oakland facility.

We look for to training and placing a dog for the H.J. Heinz VA Facility.

Thank you VetPets of SWPA for always supporting our veterans and providing high quality working dogs! 🐕 We love you guys!

Last night’s Youth Program class was week five of the 10 week program and the youth got to work on basic obedience with the dogs.

They got to learn the importance of creating house rules for Dogs and how to introduce hand commands to dogs rather than always telling their dogs what to do repetitively without the dogs listening. This was an amazing class. The kids learned so much that’s going to benefit them and their dogs and their own homes!!

 🔥 We are taking donations and raining money for more kids to enter this program in 2025 🔥

We currently have two scholarships available for this program and we have two new programs coming up in the new year.

Congratulations to our most recent round of graduates to introduction to our Introduction to Agility Class! We were very excited for each team to do their final runs and see their best times! Each Dog learned so much along the way working their problem-solving skills and building their courage as they tackled a new challenge and eventually mastered the entire course!

If you would like to get your dog involved into the introduction To Agilty of course please send us a message. It is for dogs that are 35 pounds and under only you can reserve your spot for the class coming up on December 27 at 6 PM at our training center located inside of the Westmoreland Mall!

Please help 🙏 me invest in our Youth! This holiday season, we are trying to raise donations through our GoFund account specifically for our Top Dog Therapy Team Youth Program. 

To us, there’s nothing more important in this world than our youth realizing this, I decided to create a youth program to strengthen the future of our nonprofit organization The Top Dog Therapy Team.

If you feel so kind as to support our program in our youth, please make a donation to the go fund below 100% of the proceeds will be used to help families that cannot afford the $299 program fee for this amazing 10 week program opportunity for their children.

We awarded $600 in student scholarships last month to students in this class!! $300 in donations came from our business matching a $300 donation gave by Top Dog Therapy Team Frankie Millerschoen. But we couldn’t do this without your kind hearted help!

If you’re interested in having your kids join this 10 week program, we have two new school opportunities coming up this upcoming year. One will start Saturday, January 18 at 3 PM. The other will start Wednesday, February 5 at 6 PM.

Team Winnie joined forces with teams Arlo and Fiona to take her Therpay phase one field test and she did amazing!!

We were so excited to get these guys tested and onto the next phase of their training journey!

If you’re interested in having your dog be evaluated for our Therapy Program we have two new schools coming up next year one starts on January 4 at 9 AM the other on February 15 at
9 AM.

We still have two spots remaining for our Canine Good Citizenship Prep Class that starts tomorrow at 6 PM at Westmoreland Mall!

This 5-week class is $175 and is designed to prepare your dog to pass the CGC Exam with flying colors! Your dog should already exhibit some level of obedience training before taking this class.

AKC fees are not included in the price of class.

*There are no refunds as we pay our trainers and rent our space*

We are located inside of the Westmoreland mall on the second floor on the Casino side.

Our space number is 276. We are directly next to the armed force center.

If you find a way to the elevator, come upstairs go straight you will find us or if you’re on the first level head towards the casino there are steps on the right hand side that will bring you right up to us.

Please do not forget to bring P**P bags in case your dog has an emergency to or from our store.

We ask everybody to please make sure their dogs are fully bathroom or leave before coming into the mall.

Parking:

No matter where you park at in the mall, it is pretty easy to find us from upstairs to downstairs from the food court to the other main entrances find your way to the center of the mall where the elevator is and head down towards the casino.

This holiday season please consider making a donation to our GoFundMe that was specifically created to support our Top Dog Therapy Yourh Program.

This new program is a in-depth 10 weeks school that we put kids ages nine through 17 two to receive the proper training and knowledge to become junior professional dog handlers and responsible dog owners.

Not every family can afford the $299 cost of this school and we would like to offer more grants/scholarships to families suffering financial difficulties, but we cannot do it without your help!!

Youngwood Top Dog has matched up to $600 in grants, and we will continue to do so, please consider making a donation to this fund this holiday season to support our youth and this new program opportunity!

We had another amazing visit to the V.A. Hospital in Oakland. We came out for the social worker Christmas celebration and met a ton of people while we were there! We also got to spend time with sweet therapy dog Mercy who is doing awesome down at the V.A.! Mercy was SO excited to see some friends at her workplace!

Week four of the Top Dog Youth Program we taught the kids all about proper socialization and desensitization for their puppies and the importance of it! They all learned so much this week and with this course so far!

If you’re interested in having your kids join this 10 week program, we have two new school opportunities coming up this upcoming year. One will start Saturday, January 18 at 3 PM. The other will start Wednesday, February 5 at 6 PM.

We love our Top Dog Drop off Appointments!!! There is nothing like helping improve what dogs need the most, such as walking, socialization, & desensitization. This busy holiday season is the perfect time to get your dogs out and to get them trained in public.
