Today I received a special package: a recognition award from the United Taxidermist Association in honor of my efforts on their behalf.
Several months ago I was notified that I would be inducted into the UTA Hall of Fame. I feel fortunate to be included in this cast of very talented, very prestigious people! I've included an excerpt from the UTA website announcing the names in the 2021 and 2022 classes of the Hall of Fame.
In the spring of 2007, the UTA was created by a group of taxidermists seeing a void that needed to be filled. I was in that group, serving as the Secretary-Treasurer, and serving alongside such greats as Ken Walker, Jan VanHoesen, Paul Czarnecki, Manny Chavez, Danny Owens, Craig Lewis, Mac McClane and Steve Faechner.
Much time, effort, laughs and tears from all of us went into the creating of the By-laws and the Rules and Regs. And some pretty crazy times for me, as I scrambled to keep up with all the administrative paperwork, as well as speaking to each and every new member and recording their payments, setting up a website, a phone line, and basically an office for our new non-profit. Even though it was overwhelming at times, I'll always count those times as some of the best and most important in my career. I much appreciate this honor and recognition.
