Just a quick heads-up: there will be no grooming service tomorrow🐾. However, our retail side will be open from 10am-4pm! Feel free to drop by for all of your pet needs! We just got in our collars, leashes, and a few toys for ECU, NC State, Duke, and Carolina! 🐶

We plan to start moving Saturday September 28th on the 2nd Annual Independent Pet Store Day! 🐶 There won't be any mega sales this year unfortunately, we'll have to wait for Small Business Saturday, but everyone is welcome to come support us, get to spend time with our amazing staff, enjoy some good food, and get the first look at our brand new space! We will be moving through the weekend and if you can't tell we have a lot of inventory, supplies, and equipment! 😆

Happy Tuesday! Our week is off to a very warm, but great start as always! 😎 We have so many awesome things going on everyday and couldn't do it without our amazing staff and clients! All these pups are looking Summer ready and we are loving it! 🏖
We are so incredibly proud and excited to announce that The Standard Dog will be expanding in September 2024 into a brand-new beautiful stand-alone location! We are just thrilled to be moving into formerly The Crate at 3116 Evans Street convenient to Lynncroft Shopping Center and Lynndale Neighborhood! 🐾
At the start of this business when it was just Dillon and I in planning stages (with Daylyn very soon to follow), we wanted a little 1000sq foot space that we could make our own and never imagined that we could ever be in this position today. With the tremendous support for us over the past year and a half of business, both professionally and personally, this new space is an ode to our community's overwhelming support for our mission.❤️
We set out to raise the standard of modern dog grooming and then with the addition of nutrition, supplementation, and enrichment, we strived to provide a new retail environment for all things dog! Since our full retail store officially opened last year, having your support and seeing the positive changes in your pups' lives encouraged us to make the decision to expand even further to truly provide the best service possible in Greenville and the surrounding areas. As the only Independently owned and operated pet store in the area, we hand select every single treat, toy, and brand of food to only support brands that care as much about your dogs health, style, and happiness as we do. 🛒
✂️ Looking towards the future plans for this amazing space, our grooming salon will become more modernized and seamless with in-store grooming seminars/tutorials, videos, behind the scenes, and a more personal relationship with our entire team moving forward. Taking care of your pets and their own individual styles in a safe, clean, stylish, and caring environment continues to be of our utmost importance. Therefore, our plans to bring our process to the next level will elevate you and your pup's entire experience with us!
In addition to an advanced grooming experience, our retail shop will expand to roughly 2000sq feet (roughly a 3x increase!) to allow us more amazing product lines and a peaceful shopping experience for all-encompassing dog retail shopping. Especially in this new location, elevating the retail experience to make your local Trader Joe's, HomeGoods, Marshall's, Target, and The Standard Dog rounds much more convenient! 😉
We have many ideas and new, unique plans that we will continue to explore and announce over the next few months! The biggest of these announcements being our upstairs loft space being fully decked out to host our own dog-friendly events such as adoption events, social hours, catered birthday parties for your pup and their closest friends, training classes, and much more! We will continue to explore all of these options and share information as we finalize our plans. 🎉
On a final note, the landlord of our units currently has been the most supportive, helpful, and kind person who gave us a chance in the beginning when we desperately needed a place to call ours. We would love to assist in getting our units filled in whatever way we can, therefore if anyone is looking for a commercial space please contact us where we can get you in touch. Especially small business owners and those new to business, this opportunity would be wonderful for someone looking at branching out on their own.
None of this would ever be possible without each and every one of you supporting our dream from day one. We truly feel exceptionally grateful to have gained such incredible friendships and community support over this time of being in business and there truly is no other place that we would rather be than Greenville. Y’all we had the best time with Humane Society of Eastern Carolina and Nauti Dog Brewing Co. today for Dogfest! 🐶 We loved seeing so many familiar faces and making so many new friends! It’s such a blast to have so many amazing local people to host these events with for the community! 🤩 ❤️ There are some amazing dogs up for adoption through the Humane Society as well that we got to meet today so if you are looking to add a new family member, check out the wonderful pups looking for their forever homes! 🐾

Hello everyone, it’s Dillon. I just wanted to hop on an let everyone I have made it home from the hospital. I’m so fortunate to be able to say that. For those that don’t know I’ve been dealing with some heart issues for the past year.
The doctors aren’t sure exactly what is causing the problems, but my heart is in good shape overall. I’ll be seeing a few specialists going forward and be getting some genetic testing done as well. I did have the ablation but I was also told I would most likely be getting at least one more sometime in the future.
I’m not usually one to put much of my life at all on social media but I did wanna let people know I was home and stable. Per the doctors orders I will be taking it easy for a few weeks and starting to filter some of the dogs off my schedule onto other groomers at the shop. I will still continue to groom as it’s something I love to do. It just seems that larger or more difficult dogs may not be something I can do easily going forward as we figure this out. I’ll be talking with my clients going forward but best believe each and every client I have is special. You will all have a place at the shop I just may have to take a bit of a step backwards.
I would like to thank everyone who reached out to Laura and I the past few days and especially a few people specifically who helped get me where I needed to be and watched over or visited us in the hospital. I would also like to thank my staff. Daylyn, Jess and Becky specifically stepped up a ton and ran the shop with the help of the other girls. Kylie and Amanda kept our bathing team rolling and supported the girls grooming each and everyday. It was a big weight off our shoulders to know the shop was still rolling in the background while I was out of commission. The team of doctors and nurses taking care of me was amazing. It was pretty crazy to hear how weird my health stuff was but their way they handled it, related it to me and their response to the difficulty I faced was outstanding. They made a very scary experience at least as comfortable as it could have been. Thanks to my family as well for always being supportive and dealing with the craziness! They were able to make the drive and hangout with me. Lastly thanks to Laura. I truly don’t know what I would have done without her. Laura was an absolute pillar during these past few events. What have been the scariest events in my life are made so much better by her constant reassurance that I have people in my corner and people who want to see me get better and continue to be at work seeing our clients. I may not be able to groom at 100% anymore or at least until all there work is physically done but I can still be at work speaking with and helping clients which I still enjoy the most. Laura deserves all the kindness and thanks as everyone swings by the shop for their next visit. I honestly don’t know what this whole situation might look like without her.
Thanks you to everyone once again. It’s easy to see that The Standard Dog is much more than just our business but everything Laura and I love rolled into a single place. It’s allowed us to have such a great staff and great friends, as well as meeting connecting with all the fantastic clients we love. I cant wait to get back to work and see everyone again.

Laura again, we have some great news that the ablation went very well and Dillon is resting very comfortably now! We both will be with that behind us. The medical team was wonderful and doctors said he did fantastic for the procedure.
I wanted to share the good news before the evening ends, I know so many people have been praying and thinking about us over the past few days and your support just means the world.
We are hoping for a restful night and to hopefully be home soon to start the recovery process.

Good morning!
Thank you all the kind words and wishes on our previous post, we read through them all over the past day and could not have a more supportive group of people to be rooting for us. We had some good news after all the tests yesterday that Dillon’s heart function overall looks great. They are planning for the ablation procedure today to hopefully fix 100% of the rhythm concerns so we are just in a waiting game to see when that is going to be.
Our spirits have been good and we have a wonderful team at the hospital and team at the Salon that has been holding down the fort for us so well. There are so many amazing people around us who have built us up and we could not be more grateful to have so much support and love from our community.
Please continue the prayers and positive thoughts as we navigate this today, hopefully this is the last step before we can plan to head home and get back to normal. Thank you again so kindly from both of us and I will update again as soon as I can!

Hi everyone, it’s Laura.
Dillon is in the hospital with heart concerns that are a little more serious than last visit. He will be here for a few days at least with hopes to find a more permanent solution, but I am staying with him and our wonderful team at the salon is holding down the fort and helping us keep our house in order.
The shop will be open for Becky and Jess’ clients to come in as scheduled, but we are rescheduling Dillons likely for the week and mine day by day as we figure out a game plan and hopefully can get him home soon.
Any thoughts, prayers, and well wishes are greatly appreciated by both of us. We don’t know exactly what it going on, but I will update everyone when I can. Thank you kindly to all of you who care so deeply for us both, we appreciate that more than you know especially in times like this. ❤️
