The Darke County Civic Theater has been busy all summer preparing for the upcoming melodrama at the Annie Oakley Festival. They have five performances scheduled throughout the festival weekend. This years production is "The Ol' Homestead" by Sherry Roseberry and produced by special arrangement with Eldridge Publishing Company.
Unlike most villains, who only have to fight a hero (Jackson Aukerman) in trying to win the lovely lady (Nikki Wheeler), Edgar Duntley (Trevor DeSchepper) has to face Miss Lil's whol...e boardinghouse full of zany characters. There are Miss Lil's mischievous little brothers (Matt Cline & Mitchell Sink) who dislike him, the deaf lady (Lyn Foureman) who keeps staring at him, the men-hungry spinsters (Jennifer Gibson & Danielle Sink) who are chasing him, and others. Even more laughs come from Della (Sandy Hartley), Duntley's cleaning lady accomplice. She is chased by an old boarder (Bill Murphy) and served some "fruit juice" which makes her stiff as a board. Rounding out this colorful cast is a crooked lawyer (Chris Phillips), sarcastic maid (Connie DeSchepper), errand girl (Olivia Leeper), snobby aunt (Karen Hamilton), homely cousin (Samantha Aukerman) and the hero's sister (Laura Francis).
The performances will take place in the Youth Building at the Darke County Fairgrounds. The showtimes are Thursday July 25th and Friday July 26th at 7:00pm, Saturday July 27th at 3:00pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday July 28th at 1:00pm. Come on out to the festival and enjoy this fun-filled interactive melodrama where you can Boo and Hiss the villain and cheer for the hero.
