Meet our buddy Wyatt 🐾💙 He came in today because his family noticed he was limping and wasn’t putting full weight on one of his hind limbs.
Common causes of limping include:
Soft tissue sprain or strain, Torn nails or paw injuries, Arthritis or joint inflammation, Hip or knee instability (like ACL tears), Lyme or tick-borne illness, Spine or nerve pain
So, what should you do if your dog is limping?
1. Avoid exercise until they can be evaluated
2. Don’t give human pain medications (many are toxic to pets)
3. Schedule an exam so we can check muscles, joints, and gait
4. X-rays or further testing may be recommended depending on what we find.
Cooper is going home with a treatment plan and lots of rest so he can get back to being his happy, playful self soon! If your pet is limping or seems uncomfortable, we’re here to help; Your pet’s comfort is our priority ❤️
