This fluffy orange majestic beast, Charlie, visited us this weekend with a concerning issue-he was urinating blood. 😿Our team quickly jumped into action, performing tests to diagnose the problem. It turns out Charlie has a urinary tract issue, which can be common in cats, especially males.

We've started treatment, and Charlie hopefully is already on the road to recovery. He was such a trooper and even though his owner's reported he has a history of being spicy he was a kind fluff with us. 🧡

If you notice your cat showing signs like straining to urinate, blood in their urine, or frequent trips to the litter box, don't wait! These symptoms can escalate quickly and may signal a serious issue.

Let's all wish Charlie a speedy recovery! 💞

Beaker came to see us before Christmas when his mom noticed he was having some issues. Our team quickly determined that Beaker needed some help going #2! Beaker stayed for a little but in one of our comfortable kennels while we helped give him some relief. He thanked the team with cuddles and purrs.

Pet Parents – The holidays are upon us. Are you ready for the unexpected? Here’s a quick list to have in mind for the week ahead.
Check your regular veterinarian’s hours so you know when they’re around and when you’ll need find alternative care.
Know that UrgentVet is open 12PM to 8PM on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. We are located at: [address here]
Locate your nearest 24-hour emergency vet in case of a life-threatening condition.
If you’re boarding your pet, make sure the facility has the most updated contact and care information for your pet.
If you have guests staying with you, remind them to close doors and gates to keep pets safely inside. Put your contact info on your pet’s collar for an extra layer of caution. Finally, remind them of what pets can and can’t eat.
A little preparation now can help to make for a safe and happy time for all.

Mr. Rocket was seen by our team this weekend for coughing. He is here to remind you that if your furry family member is coughing then the team at UrgentVet is there to help. They will be in clinic this week and be happy and ready to help get them on the road to recovery. They also will get the record back to your family veterinarian by the next morning!

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!

Lily braved the cold and rain today to come see us after she had licked and chewed her paw while mom was out of town. Thankfully mom was able to bring her to us to get her started on the road to feeling better today! She will be returning to her family vet FurWell Veterinary Hospital on Tuesday.

Our team had the absolute pleasure to help Millie and her dear friend pictured here this weekend. This adorable face is a newly adopted Siberian Husky that her sweet owner has not named just yet. But she had a broken tail so while our team got things together for Millie our doctor bandage her tail.

🍗 Watch the menu. Avoid sharing turkey bones, rich foods, or anything with onions, garlic, or spices.
🧺 Secure the trash. Curious noses can find harmful leftovers.
🍫 Skip the sweets. Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are toxic to pets.

Tate the cat got himself into quite a catch! 🐟

This adventurous kitty ran out of the house and came back with a fish hook stuck in his paw. His owner rushed him to UrgentVet, where we carefully removed the hook and made sure he was comfortable.

A bee tried to ruin Bentley’s walk, but we weren’t having it! 🐾 After limping into UrgentVet, we found a stinger lodged between his toes. We removed it, gave him a pain-relief injection, and now Bentley’s back to his playful self! 💙🐝
