Vega came to see us when he got too excited and jumped off his couch. This resulted in him popping his sutures from an older wound. Our team was able to get him cleaned back up and re-sutured. He was given strict instructions to rest and take it easy. He will follow up with his regular veterinarian to get the sutures removed and to continue his care

Even canine siblings do not get along sometimes. Jack came to see us after his sibling attacked him. We were able to start getting him to feel better with some medications and wound treatments. He will continue to follow up with his family veterinarian. And his parents will be working on helping him and his sibling get along more.

🚨 Dog Safety Alert! 🚨

While it might seem like a fun treat, giving your dog bones (like those from the pet store) can actually be dangerous! 🦴⚠️

❗ Why they’re risky:

They can get stuck: These bones can get themselves caught around the canine teeth and stuck around the lower jaw. This can create a stressful experience, and in most cases, require sedation to remove the bone. Here we see a kiddo who had to make a trip to Urgentvet to have her bone removed.

Choking hazard: Bones can break apart, leading to choking or blockage in your dog's digestive system.

Sharp edges: If a bone splinters, it can cause internal injuries to your dog's mouth, throat, or intestines.
Tooth damage: Hard bones can crack or break your dog's teeth, leading to painful dental issues.

✅ Safe alternative:
Opt. for rubber chew toys that are designed for safe chewing.

Always supervise your dog with chew toys to prevent accidents.

🐾✨ Meet our adventurous 2-year-old Bernadoodle named Willie! Recently, he had a rough day with vomiting and diarrhea. 😟 With a history of munching on all sorts of things, we knew we had to investigate!

After some radiographs, we were relieved to find no obstructions. 🙌💚 We’re now treating him supportively and keeping a close eye on his recovery. His parents will follow up with their family veterinarian if he continues to have issues.

Here’s to hoping our curious pup gets back to his playful self soon! 🍖🐶💖 🐾💖🐾

🎄🐾 Meet George, our brave little Cava Poo! Just in time for the holidays, he had a little scuffle on Christmas and came home with a sore shoulder. After a visit to the vet, we discovered he has a hematoma! 😢💔

But don't worry, our tough guy is on the mend with some pain meds and plenty of cuddles. 🐶❤️ Here’s to a speedy recovery and more playful days ahead!

🐾 Meet Loui, our brave little chihuahua! 🐶❤️ This 9-year-old cutie came in with a swollen face, and after a little detective work, we discovered it was a tooth abscess! 😱🦷

Loui had some bloodwork done, and he's now on medications to help him feel better. He'll be visiting his family vet Foothills Veterinary Hospital in 7 days for a dental extraction to get him back to his happy self! 🏥✨

Let’s send Loui all the love and positive vibes for a smooth recovery! 💖🐕

🎉 Rascal’s Big Mystery Solved! 🐾

Our sweet Shih Tzu friend, Rascal, came in today with suspected back pain. After some careful examination and radiographs, we discovered the culprit wasn’t his back at all—it was overindulgence! 🙈🍗 Rascal had been sneaking a little too much of his housemate’s food, leading to constipation and discomfort.

Rascal is now on the road to recovery with after an e***a to help relieve some of the constipation and some extra TLC from his family. ❤️

This is a good reminder to monitor our furry friends' eating habits to keep them feeling their best! 🐕💪

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!
