Cuteness overload! 😍

Paco, this adorable 7 week old Chihuahua had our staff members head over heels as soon as he came into the clinic. This tiny baby, weighing in at only 2 lbs came for his very first puppy visit and was a very good patient for his exam and vaccines with Dr. Patrick. He has already won the hearts of many, including his parents, but how could you not? Especially with a cute face like that! 🐶 🐾

With puppies, it is crucial to get them started with their first set of Distemper/Parvo vaccinations at 6 weeks of age, and boosting every 3-4 weeks until they are 16 weeks of age, or as recommended by your veterinarian. Puppies are susceptible to many infectious diseases, which is why is is recommended starting their series of vaccines early to prevent any illness from occurring as much as we can. 👩🏻‍⚕️💉

We can’t wait to see how this little baby continues to grow and live a happy, healthy life. Congrats to the fur parents on such a sweet boy. 🥰

Guess what time it is… that right, Dental Health Month! 🦷✨🪥

February is Dental health month, a time that brings awareness to one of the most crucial parts in your pets overall wellbeing… ORAL HEALTH!

Just like humans, pets can develop dental disease and a broad variety of oral health problems. Which is why yearly exams and recommended dental cleanings are so important to keep a happy and healthy pet. 😸🐾🐶

In recognition of February as the Dental Health month, our clinic will be offering a 10% DISCOUNT for all February dental cleanings. If your pet just so happens to be in need of a dental cleaning, don’t miss out on this limited time offer. Limited appointments are available, and will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Estimates can be created to those interested and emailed upon request. 😊

If you are interested in any additional info pertaining to your pet, please give us a call or send us a text at the clinic and we would be happy to help.

And remember, a healthy pet leads to a happy pet. 🙌🏼

Happy Friday-YAY! 😎

We wanted to share this cute post, that will sure make you giggle. 🤭

Peachy, an adorable Malt-e-poo who came in last week for a visit, had us all smiling as soon as she walked into the clinic. She just so happened to be matching with our receptionist Magui, in the most funny way… can you tell why?! 💚🐾

What a cute duo, don’t ya think? 😉🙌🏼

We hope everyone has had a great start to the new year! 😁

During this time of the year, veterinarians all around the world see an increase of puppies and kittens visits. Most of these, gifted to their new families during Christmas time.

If you happen to be one of those lucky families who has welcomed a fur baby during the holidays, we want to remind you to start their veterinary care! Health checks and vaccines are crucial in these early stages of their lives. With a immune system that is still developing, lots of germs can be life threatening to these little guys. Parvovirus, coronavirus, distemper, you name it!

Be the best pet parent you can be for your little one, and schedule an appointment today! 🥰🐾

Appointments can be scheduled by phone, text or through out Petdesk app! 😉

Hello everyone!😊

As many of you may know, a few weeks ago we offered our very first drive-thru vaccine clinic. Specifically targeted to getting pets vaccinated against Canine Influenza. We had quite the turn out, and were happy to see many familiar faces come out to protect their pets against this particular virus.

In light of that, East Carolina Veterinary Service will be offering a second Flu Clinic - mainly targeted to those who need their boosters. This next Flu Clinic will be held on:

✨Saturday, Jan 6th - From 9am - 12pm✨

As mentioned in our original Flu Clinic post, the Canine Influenza vaccine DOES HAVE TO BE BOOSTERED before your pet reaches full immunity. We will also be providing first time Canine Influenza vaccines for those interested in starting their canines on this series of vaccines. Those who came to the first Flu Clinic will have priority as vaccine quantities are limited. With that being said, we will be trying to accommodate everyone to the best of our ability.

If you would like to go ahead and reserve your spot please call or text the clinic at 252-355-4945. We look forward to seeing you and your pups there! 🐶🐾

(Please refer to map below to see how to enter/exit the drive thru clinic - no in office vaccines will be given at this flu clinic)

✨ Tis’ the season of holiday cheer! ✨

ECVS staff all got together at COFFEE+SPICE, a beautiful local restaurant for a night filled with amazing food, gifts and lots of laughter. 😊

The staff enjoyed a very delicious menu filled with exquisite flavors all thanks to their amazing chef, Richard Williams. The food was in fact so good, we had to capture it to share! 📷

We wanted to not only share the amazing dining experience, but also the photos of our staff enjoying themselves outside the clinic. Our techs, receptionists and doctors ALL work very hard to ensure your pets get the best care they deserve. 🥰🐾

P.S. - Feel free to use this post as a “Thank you” to our staff and doctors. We always appreciate the kind words all of our clients have to say about our staff. And it only motivates our staff more and more to keep doing the work they do. ❤️

🐶 Happy Waggin’ Wednesday! 🐶

Today ECVS will be closing early as we will be celebrating our annual Christmas party. The clinic will be closing at 4pm, so we ask those who need to get medications, food or anything additional to plan accordingly.

If your pet finds itself in need of urgent medical attention between the times of 4pm and 6pm, we advise those to go to Points East Specialty Hospital in Sims, NC as they offer 24/7 emergency care. The emergency clinic here in town does not open until 6pm, so if any emergency were to present itself after that time we advise those to visit The Pet Emergency of Pitt County on Evans street. If your request is something that can wait, feel free to leave a message on our answering machine or send us a text message. One of our staff members will be back in touch with you the following business day. 😊

As always, we thank you all for your cooperation. Hope everyone has a lovely day! 🥰

We had one of our thoughtful clients bring us some Nothing Bundt Cakes this morning in appreciation of our staffs hard work. 🧁

We always appreciate kind gestures, and we are nothing more than thankful for all the love and support from our clients. But most importantly, we are always glad to provide the best care for your fur babies big or small. 🐶🐾😸

We’d also like to thank everyone who has been spamming us with goodies this holiday season. You are all amazing and our staff enjoy the snacks, especially after a long day. 🥰❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who brought their pets to our Flu Clinic today. We had a big turnout and thankfully the weather was on our side today. 😄💉☀️

Please remember if this is your pets first time being vaccinated with the Canine Influenza vaccine that they will need a booster in THREE WEEKS, before full immunity is achieved. We will be offering a future date for booster vaccines for everyone who came out today. With an additional chance to pet parents to bring their pups who were not able to make it today(depending on vaccine availability).

Our staff worked very hard to ensure today ran as smoothly as possible, and with your help we were able to make this a successful day. 🥰

We hope to see everyone at their next appointment, and hope you all have a woof-tasting and safe weekend. 🐶🐾

Happiest of birthdays to the youngest of our work crew, Andrew! 🥳

While ensuring we stay “hip with the kids,” this hard working young man comes in every day after school to ensure ECVS is spotless after our busy days. Andrew is always such a big help to the team and we wanted to make sure he is celebrated, just like he deserves. We wish you many more happy birthdays to come! Stay cool Andrew! 😎🙌🏼

🐾 Flu clinic updates - For those already scheduled 🐾

⭐️ Since we will be administering the flu vaccine as “drive by” only, we will post signs around the strip to guide everyone in the correct direction to make sure traffic flows easily. Our goal is to have those coming for the Flu Clinic enter from Charles Blvd, and follow directions towards the back side of our building. Once your pet is checked in, a staff member will come to your vehicle to administer the vaccine and have you exit onto redbanks.

⭐️ Due to our focus on Flu vaccines ONLY, please keep in mind we will not be able to accommodate any additional requests unrelated to the Flu Clinic. If your pet is due for additional services, we will recommend scheduling those at a later date.

⭐️ Our front office will be closed during the course of the Flu Clinic. If any medications or food need to be picked up, we will be allowing those to come in the morning between 8am -9am only.

⭐️ Any other questions, and or concerns feel free to call or text the clinic.

In light of the recent outbreak of Canine Influenza in Wake County, NC. East Carolina Veterinary Service will be offering a Canine Flu Clinic for our clients:

‼️ Saturday, December 16th from 10 am - 12 pm ‼️

⭐Because vaccine number is limited at this time, please RSVP at 252-355-4945, so we can assure enough vaccine doses are available. Also, we will assign you a time slot in order to minimize traffic overload in the parking lot.

Check out our very own Dr. Fernanda Godfrey who was recently featured on WITN News! 🤩

She did a brief interview with Baileigh Bockover on the current canine upper respiratory disease outbreak spreading across the United States.

Although, not much is known about this current condition, we advise two main precautions: decreasing the risk of exposure as much as possible (i.e., no unnecessary trips to day care, grooming, boarding facilities etc.), and VACCINATE, VACCINATE, VACCINATE! Even though we cannot vaccinate to all possible pathogens that may cause upper respiratory disease, we recommend making sure your dog is up to date on their bordetella, parainfluenza, and influenza vaccines. 🐶🐾💉

Thanks WITN-TV for the opportunity to be featured on your program! 😊

Hundreds of dogs across 16 states so far have contracted a mysterious dog illness that has left researchers scrambling to find a cure.

‼ ***Respiratory Disease Outbreak Awareness Post*** ‼

As many of you may have heard, or seen on the latest news, there has been a higher rate of reported cases of canine upper respiratory infections (which we refer to as canine infectious respiratory disease complex, or CIRDC) in various parts of the US. It is currently unknown if the more severe cases of CIRDC (also being referred to as atypical CIRDC) have been caused by a new pathogen, or by a more virulent, pre-existing pathogen. Also, most recently, an outbreak of Canine Influenza has been reported in Raleigh, NC. For these reasons we wanted to share some helpful information/recommendation on how to keep your pets safe and protected during this time. 🐶🐾

According to Dr. Scott Weese, a Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist and world-renowned infectious disease expert, here are some important guidelines to keep in mind:
⭐Limit your dog’s contacts, especially transient contacts with dogs of unknown health status;
⭐If your dog is sick, keep it away from other dogs;
⭐Keep your dog away from sick dogs;
⭐Talk to your veterinarian about vaccination against canine parainfluenza virus (CPIV), bordetella bronchiseptica, and canine influenza.

If you would like to read more on the ongoing research regarding what is the true cause for the latest rising numbers/severity of CIRDC, please check out Dr. Weese’s very informative blog titled “Worms and Germs”, which is free to the public - link on our profile.

Lastly, as an effort to continue to provide the best veterinary care, we are currently planning on offering a Canine Influenza vaccine clinic for our clients. Please stay tuned for another post coming soon, with all the details. 😄

Sometimes it's hard to believe the variations we see in different breeds of dogs!

Today we saw little Luigi, a Chihuahua puppy, while right next door Liam, a Mastiff, was getting his yearly physical. Liam is a gentle giant, and Luigi's owners and Liam's owners let us safely introduce the two for a little photo op. Photographed is the difference of 193 pounds!

From extra large to mini, purebred to mixed breed, we love them all the same! Thank you for sharing your amazing furry family members with us 🥰

🦃 Gobble Gobble! 🦃

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and you know what that means? A thanksgiving feast! A feast that may be DELICIOUS to us, but may not settle right in our fur babies’ tummy. 🤒

This Thanksgiving, please remember if your pet is around to take the proper precautions. Make sure to keep them away from fatty foods, bones and sweets. As most of these can threaten your pets’ well being. If you're traveling for the holiday make sure they have the proper accommodations for a safe trip, and if you can’t take them with you consider boarding them for your time away from home.

If your pet happens to get ahold of something they are not supposed to, there are a few resources to ensure your pet did not eat anything that could hold a potential risk to their health. The Pet Poison Control line is also available 24/7 for any tips/advice and will let you know if your pet needs to be seen immediately. And if that so happens to be the case, our friends at the Pet Emergency Clinic are open all Thanksgiving for any of these unexpected occurrences.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🥰🐾

We have a lovely update for our ECVS Family...

😻 Our clinic cat “Muffy” has found a home!!! 😻

You may have seen him from time to time in the office or featured on our social media. Muffy was our “clinic” supervisor, always following staff around and making his rounds in the clinic. And when he was not meowing at you to give him a treat and attention, he spent his time napping away on our clinic couch.

Muffy was, in fact, so good at his job that he ended up winning one of our staff member’s heart and we all couldn’t be happier.

We are so glad that ECVS will be able to keep tabs on our special boy and continue to watch him thrive. We wish him nothing but the best in this new chapter in his life. ❤🐾

11/03/2023

We have seen an increase in the amount of cases of “Kennel Cough” lately. 🤒

Kennel cough (aka canine infectious tracheobronchitis) is a highly contagious illness, and typically presents itself as a “honking” cough (similar to a goose sound), with or without a fever, decreased appetite, and lethargy.

If your pet frequents any heavily trafficked dog areas like the dog park, daycare, pet stores, etc., they are at a higher risk of contracting this condition. In these cases, a bordetella vaccine is recommended since this bacteria is the most common agent to cause kennel cough. Although most cases of kennel cough are caused by bordetella, some are caused by other agents (canine adenovirus type 2, canine parainfluenza virus, canine respiratory coronavirus, and mycoplasma), what explains why some vaccinated dogs may still develop clinical signs of kennel cough.

If your pet is having clinical signs and you suspect of kennel cough, please contact us. We are happy to advise on the proper next steps to ensure your pet is protected. And, as of lately, we are providing telemedicine as an option for majority of our suspected kennel cough patients to help minimize the spread of this condition to other patients. ☺️🐶🐾

Happy Howl-O-Ween! 🎃🐾

A day filled with fun, costumes and candy although sounds like a blast to us, may not be the safest for our pets.

When it come to costumes, some can be big and scary for your pets too. So, if your pet is easily startled we highly advise staying home for their own safety, and others around you. But if they are unbothered, and love strolling around with the trick-or-treaters, make sure your pets have their ID tags on while out this evening. 🦮🐾

Most importantly , let's watch ALL THE CANDY! Candy can be very harmful for your pet since most contain ingredients like Xylitol and Chocolate which can be toxic to them. So, when in doubt, be sure to keep them out of reach for your pet's safety. 🍭🍭🍭

This doesn’t mean that your pet can’t enjoy this Halloween season. Just remember to be safe, and avoid anything that could be harmful. And most importantly, have FUN!!! 🥰

(Also if you have any cute pet costume photos feel free to share them with us below!!!)

Is your canine one who struggles with osteoarthritis? 🤔

If so, we got some good news!!🤩
There is a new, FDA-approved, canine monoclonal antibody formulated to control arthritic pain, that is now available at ECVS. It is called LIBRELA, and is administered as a monthly injection (similar to “Solensia” for cats). LIBRELA is a state-of-the-art medication engineered to improve your senior pets' quality of life by allowing them to move around like they used to, as it controls the pain that comes with osteoarthritis - with LESS SIDE EFFECTS than the commonly used anti-inflammatories (aka carprofen, firocoxib, deracoxib, etc)!!

ECVS is proud to offer LIBRELA, and if you think your pet(s) would benefit from this treatment, give us a call! We are more than happy to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors for a consultation, and consider your dog as a candidate for this new medication. 🐶🐾

Hey there, HSEC FAM! Woof, woof! Canine Crawl is almost here, and we're wagging our tails with excitement! Let's give a round of applause to our incredible Silver Sponsors, Pet Supplies Plus and East Carolina Veterinary Service!
