🚨 Heat Stroke in Dogs: Know the Signs! ☀️🐶
Hot days can be dangerous for our furry friends. Heat stroke can happen fast and be life-threatening. Here’s what to watch for:
🐾 Early Signs:
• Heavy panting
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Drooling (thick/sticky)
• Restlessness or racing heartbeat
⚠️ Advanced Signs:
• Vomiting or diarrhea (possibly bloody)
• Staggering or collapse
• Confusion or seizures
• Unconsciousness
🔥 What to do:
✔️ Move to a cool, shaded spot
✔️ Wet with cool (not ice-cold) water
✔️ Offer water (if alert)
✔️ Use a fan
🚗 Get to your vet ASAP
Certain dogs are more at risk, especially:
🐶 Brachycephalic breeds (flat-faced) like Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers, Shih Tzus
🐶 Overweight dogs
🐶 Senior dogs or very young puppies
🐶 Dogs with thick coats
🐶 Breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and Huskies
💊 Important: Some medications can make your dog more sensitive to heat—check with your vet if you're unsure.
Let’s keep tails wagging safely this summer! 💧☀️🐾
