ππ¦©π SAFE and ON EXHIBIT. The Greenville Zoo is open after a 10 day closure due to damage from a microburst and another hit from Hurricane Helene.
"We were very fortunate that no animal health issues arose during the storm," says zoo veterinarian Dr. Nikolay Kapustin. "The animals have been monitored very closely by the keepers."
The zoo is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily with final admission at 4:00pm. If your family needs a break from the stress of the storm, we invite you to come visit some friendly faces.
Indoor games! πΆπ§© Our zookeepers have enrichment activities including music and puzzles so our outdoor animals don't get bored or irritable while sheltering during the storms. We are closed today and tomorrow for the safety of staff, visitors and animals, but have generators to keep everyone at a comfortable temperature and preserve food.
π¦π’ Renovating Africa Plaza and adding some "prickly" new residents to "spike" interest at the Greenville Zoo. City Councilor Dorothy Dowe, in honor of her mother Mary Huse, made a generous donation to fund the upgrades and bring two Cape Porcupines to the zoo. π¦ We are "quilly" excited for you to meet them this fall.
