⚠️ CANINE RESPIRATORY ILLNESS ⚠️
To Our Valued Clients and Patients
There has been an alert released regarding an increase in canine respiratory disease in the North Eastern and North Western areas of the US. Zoetis has also reported multiple cases in Eastern Texas. Of the reported cases, the suspicion is a viral cause. Please monitor your dog for coughing, sneezing, nasal and/or eye discharge, along with lethargy. If you notice any of these symptoms isolate your dog and contact us for assistance.
HOW TO PROTECT YOUR PET
Vaccinations – ensure your dog’s Distemper, Bordetella, and Influenza vaccines are all up to date
Communal water bowls – avoid allowing your dog to consume water from shared bowls in dog parks, restaurants, etc.
Limit Contact – avoid any contact with unfamiliar dogs
Avoid sick dogs – dogs that exhibit any respiratory symptoms
Keep sick dogs isolated – if your dog becomes ill, contact us and keep them at home
If warranted a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test can be performed to help determine the cause of the illness, whether bacterial or viral.
