This Easter was an extra special one for Greenville County Animal Care, thanks to an incredible donation from The Riley Faith Foundation!!
Riley Faith Steep tragically passed away last year after a 2 year fight with cancer. She had a huge love for animals. Her family is making sure her memory lives on through her mission to help others - even shelter pets!!
They generously donated a TON of Easter toys specially for all of the dogs currently in our care here at the shelter. With a little help from the Easter Bunny & some of his helpers - staff & volunteers helped to deliver these sweet gifts to make an EGG-cellent Easter for all of our pups!

Behind every animal in need, is someone that cares and Astro Kennels really showed just how much they care about the animals in our community!! We were contacted over the holidays and were told that Astro had selected us as the beneficiary of their holiday fundraising campaign and that they would match all gifts up to $10,000. With so many worthy causes out there– we are genuinely touched when donors trust Animal Care as a good steward of their gifts. Today we visited Astro Kennels to receive the check and were completely blown away to see $20,000 written on the check!! We knew the total amount fell a little short of $10,000 but Astro graciously kicked in the remaining amount to make their donation the FULL $20,000. We cannot thank Dave, Cheri and the team at Astro, AND those of you that donated, enough for honoring us with this gift. So much good will be done for the animals in our care and for the families that love them. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to them and all of you that know we can’t do it alone!!
Late Thursday night, Greenville County Animal Care accepted a transport of cats and kittens that had been evacuated from Collier County Domestic Animal Services and Humane Society of Naples in Naples, Florida just before the storm hit. These little ones made their long journey all the way up to us in Greenville, SC and after some settling in - tomorrow they will all be available to adopt or foster! 🤍
Animal Care works closely with so many local, national AND international rescue groups and shelters that are all committed to exploring all options to provide pets with new homes. We are so proud to be able to offer our help during hard times like these, and we know that these efforts are only made possible because of the dedication and support of our amazing community!

Greenville County Animal Care is offering FEE WAIVED adoptions starting tomorrow, Saturday October 1 and running through October 8th as part of @bissellpetfoundation ‘s #EmptyTheShelter nationwide adoptions event.
We’ll be open tomorrow from 12-5 PM, no appointment needed. We have so many wonderful cats (and dogs!!) currently available to adopt or foster. With your help we know can find amazing homes for all of these amazing kitties!
‼️an update on the cruelty case involving 41 dogs living in filth and with life-threatening health issues‼️:
These animals have been taken in by our shelter and health assessments have been ongoing since the dogs were transported. At this time, a few of the dogs have already been rescued (thank you to our amazing rescue partners!!), and a few are now currently available for adoption. Several others are still being assessed and/or have not yet been released and are pending the trial.
The best way people can really help right now is by ADOPTING or FOSTERING our currently available animals. When this many animals come into our care at once, space is an issue. If you’ve been considering adopting or fostering - there truly is no better time!

We've got our pawsome staff Owen & Megan with adoptable pups Coconut 🥥 (on the left) and Melon 🍉 (right)! Coconut is a 2 year old hound mix and Melon is a 2 year old retriever mix. These two have both been a little shy since entering the shelter, but at their core they are total love bugs! They came into Animal Care together and are both eagerly awaiting their forever home. 💙

As we head into this 4th of July holiday week end, remember, we do see an upswing of animals entering the shelter. Many of these pets are just a few blocks from home and are 85% more likely to find home if left in the neighborhoods where they are found. That drops to 15% if taken out of the neighborhood and brought into the shelter. Hi everyone - for today’s pet feature, we’d love for you to meet KAI!! 👋🏼 Kai is a VERY loveable and excitable 1.5 year old pup. This sweet girl is the absolute definition of a lovebug and is hoping she'll find her perfect match soon. She LOVES people, treats, other dogs and of course - running!
