In the "Spirit of Giving," Turtle Creek Veterinary Medical Center has partnered with Hunt County Shared Ministries (formerly known as FISH Ministries) to raise funds for the purchase of pet food for the pets belonging to those served by their ministry.
Please join us in giving back to our community by showing your support for these pets with a monetary donation towards their nutritional needs.
As you may know, there are many elderly patrons that utilize the services of Hunt County Shared Ministries, many of whom have pets who are their only companions. We are graciously asking for your support in helping us to make feeding these pets a little easier for their beloved owners, who will at times go without food for themselves to feed their pets.
Since 2012, our campaign has raised over $13,000 through the graciousness of our clients and fellow community members. That's over 30,000 pounds of food! Please help us to achieve our goal of $1,500 this year!

🐾 Donate at Our Hospital
We’re accepting monetary and pet food donations through December 31.

🎄🎁Love pets, skip scraps🎄🎁
Pancreatitis is very commonly seen during the holiday season. With all the fun foods & family around, its easy for pets to get into foods they shouldn't!

The pancreas is a very sensitive organ that helps with blood sugar control & digestion. When it becomes imbalanced or inflamed, we can see a condition called pancreatitis arise.

While there are may causes for pancreatitis, High-fat foods (such as table scraps) & rapid environmental changes & stress (big parties & family visits) can trigger the pancreatic enzymes, especially during the holidays.

A pet with pancreatitis typically presents with:
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Abdominal pain (hunched posture, reluctance to move)
• Lethargy or weakness

Once diagnosed, supportive care is crucial in treating pancreatitis. Without supportive care, your pet can quickly decline and become dehydrated. Some treatments include:
• IV or subcutaneous fluids to prevent dehydration
• Pain relief and anti-nausea medications
• Careful nutrition and rest
• In severe cases, hospitalization may be necessary.

Why It Matters:
Pancreatitis can be life-threatening if untreated—but with early diagnosis, supportive care, and prevention, most pets recover and live healthy, happy lives

🐱💙 Let’s Talk About Kidney Disease in Cats 💙🐱

Kidney disease is one of the most common health conditions we see in cats — especially as they get older. While it can sound scary, early detection and proper care can make a world of difference in your cat’s comfort, longevity, and quality of life. 🌟

Here’s why staying on top of kidney health is so important:

🔹 Cats hide illness well. Kidney disease often develops slowly, and symptoms may not show until it’s advanced.
🔹 Routine bloodwork and urine testing can help us catch kidney issues early, when treatment is most effective.
🔹 Specialized diets, hydration support, and medications can greatly improve your cat’s wellbeing.
🔹 Regular check-ins with your veterinarian help us adjust care as your cat’s needs change.

Common signs to look for include: increased thirst, more frequent urination, weight loss, decreased appetite, or lethargy — but many cats show no obvious signs early on. That’s why wellness visits and routine testing are key! 🩺💛

At TCVMC, we’re here to give your cats the gentle, attentive care they deserve. If you have questions about your cat’s kidney health or want to schedule testing, give us a call — we’re always happy to help!
