Today marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year, and people across the world are set to usher in the Year of the Dragon with family feasts, visits to the temple and lively street parades.
For Chinese families, the Lunar New Year marks the beginning of 15 days of festivities, filled with red envelopes, fireworks and lots and lots of food. This year, GIPHY Arts commissioned several GIFs and Stickers from Filipino illustrator and animator Krist Menina to capture the spirit of the holiday. According to Menina, his work draws inspiration from “vintage children’s book illustrations, low-brow art and world cinema.”

Huge #thanks to all who participated in our recent online #auction! Your purchases and spreading the word mean the world to our cats and dogs awaiting forever homes. #Donations, #adoptions, and #volunteers keep our shelter doors open and the lifesaving going. More of all three are always appreciated. We hope the new format at Bidding Owl made shopping and bidding easy. It certainly helped our auction organizers.

cats dog Giving Tuesday 2023
#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving which falls this year on Nov. 28, is a day when pet lovers are once again invited to be radically generous on behalf of cats and dogs in need. #RadicalGenerosity
This Tuesday, we’ll be featuring pets who have entered our shelter-foster system requiring more time, effort, nutrition, medical care, and behavioral socialization and/or training than is typically required for an average intake so that he/she can become a healthy, happy family member.
Adoption fees for the cats and dogs are based on the cost to spay or neuter the pet, one or two rounds of vaccines, minimal medications, basic veterinarian care, and microchips. Going above and beyond for the extra special pets is almost always worth it, but it’s expensive! We can only help our current pets and future pets when additional donations are made. As a private shelter and nonprofit organization, BCHS operates with income provided primarily by adoption fees and donations from the public. We receive no government funding.
We make a difference by doing.
You make a difference by donating.
Give local this Giving Tuesday through Meta/Facebook or at https://www.bondcohumane.org/donate.html THANK YOU!!
