Onion, a lovable 3.5-year-old pup has been in foster for a while and is more than ready to find his forever home! Onion may have a funny name, but he’s got a heart of gold. His foster family describes him as incredibly sweet, goofy, and chill—he’s the kind of dog that thrives around people and enjoys being the life of the party with friends and family.

Onion is not just about cuddles and playtime, though—he’s also a quick learner, mastering tricks with ease! Whether it’s a walk in the park, a run in the backyard, or just hanging out, Onion’s bound to bring joy to any household. His foster mom says he’s truly the best dog she could have asked for, and we know he’ll make a great addition to a loving family.

If you’re looking for a playful, easy-going, and affectionate companion, Onion just might be your perfect match. If you are interested in meeting him please fill out an adoption application on our website www.hsecarolina.org

We have the best volunteers! 🫶

Thank you so much to our Head Elves in Charge - Kaitlyn & Wendy for coordinating and running the 2024 Gift Wrapping Booth fundraiser at the Greenville Mall! We couldn't have done it without them & they did an AMAZING job! 🤩

They wanted to recognize the Lead Elves who worked at least 4 volunteer shifts or more during this gift-wrapping season! 👏

And finally, the randomly selected volunteer who won the A Night to Paws Gala ticket is Betty Andrews. Video attached of random selection. 🏆

Again, thank you to every single person who helped with our gift-wrapping booth this year! Rest up! We'll see you next year! 😅

It's time for another heartwarming update that’s sure to bring a smile this holiday season! As the year draws to a close, we’re thrilled to share the joyous news of Seven amazing animals who have found their forever homes. One cat and six dogs have embarked on their next adventure, just in time to enjoy the magic of the holiday season with their new families. So, grab your coziest blanket, snuggle up with your furry pals, and get ready for this week's adoption update. The season of joy is here, and these stories are the perfect reminder of what truly matters—home, love, and second chances.

Miney, an adorable 2-month-old orange kitten, arrived at HSEC at just two weeks old with his two siblings. Thanks to the care of a dedicated staff member who bottle-fed them, Miney blossomed into a lively and spunky little kitten, ready to take on the world. It’s no surprise this charming boy has now found his forever home! When his adopters came searching for a young cat to grow up alongside their kids, we knew Miney was the perfect fit. After meeting him, they couldn’t agree more. Congratulations, Miney, on finding your wonderful new family!

Tito, a lovable 9-year-old hound mix, has finally found his forever family! We couldn’t be happier for him. Tito and his four siblings arrived at HSEC as tiny two-month-old puppies. Over time, all but Tito and his brother Dogjo had been adopted—until now. This past weekend, a family searching for a sweet, loyal companion to complete their home for the holidays met Tito. True to his nature, Tito—who has never met a person or animal he didn’t adore—charmed them with his gentle and affectionate demeanor, which was an instant connection. Now, Tito has a built-in best friend in his new human sister, and the two are set to grow up together, sharing countless adventures. This heartwarming adoption has truly touched all of our hearts at HSEC. Congratulations, Tito!

Keno, a shy and endearing pit mix with a small stubby build, has finally found his forever home, and we couldn’t be happier for him. Initially hesitant to trust people, Keno’s true comfort lies with his canine companions. For this reason, it was crucial for Keno to join a home with another dog who could guide him, provide reassurance, and be his steadfast friend. When Keno’s adopters arrived, they were overjoyed to introduce their dog to Keno, feeling confident he would be the perfect addition to their family—and they were right. From the moment they met, Keno gravitated instantly to her! Now, Keno spends his days lounging on the couch, often dressed in adorable matching sweaters with his canine sister, and living his absolute best life. Congratulations to Keno and his new family on this heartwarming new chapter!

Beluga, an adorable bulldog mix as sweet as a peach, has found his forever home. Speaking of peaches, Beluga’s adopters traveled all the way from Georgia to take this lovable boy home! Beluga was a volunteer favorite, and during a “rescue recess” doggy day out with a volunteer, he unknowingly met his future family. After meeting Beluga, the volunteer’s family couldn’t stop thinking about him and decided to apply to adopt him. They drove from Georgia with their family dog to meet him, and the introduction confirmed what they already knew: he was meant to be part of their family. We are overjoyed to see him go to such a loving home just in time for the holidays.

Caroline, a charming dachshund mix with an irresistible stubby stature, has finally found her happily ever after. She’s the perfect blend between small and medium, and her sweet, cuddly nature makes her an expert at winning hearts. After being in our care for a couple of months, we were puzzled as to why she hadn’t been scooped up sooner. That all changed when her new adopters came along. After the loss of a cherished canine companion over a year ago, they were finally ready to open their hearts to a new furry friend. The moment they met Caroline, they knew she was the perfect fit for their family. Now renamed Winnie, this darling girl spends her days napping on the couch and showering her family members with love! Congrats Caroline!

Salem, an adorable pit mix from our Halloween litter, has also found her forever home. Now named Dolly, this sweet girl’s adopters traveled all the way from Charlotte to bring her home as a Christmas surprise for their twins! Knowing they wanted to add another dog to their home as a companion for their kids, it all seemed too perfectly aligned not to make it a merry surprise. What could be more magical than a puppy during the holiday season?

Corvus, a shy one-eyed cocker spaniel, has found his forever home, and we are thrilled to share his heartwarming story. You may remember the group of five cocker spaniels who came into our care from a backyard breeding situation. Severely matted and emaciated, each one of these spaniels found their forever home except for Corvus, the shyest of the five. Corvus went into foster to help build his confidence and learn what a home truly is. His adopters saw Corvus online and knew he was the perfect match, as they already had a one-eyed spaniel mix ready for a brother. When they came to meet Corvus, staff were starstruck at how quickly he warmed up to their young daughter, immediately laying in her lap and showing how much he wanted to go home with them. Corvus and their current dog loved each other instantly, and we knew this was the happiest ending for this sweet boy. Congratulations, Corvus, on your new home and your built-in human best friend!

That wraps up this week’s adoption update! From all of us at HSEC, Happy Holidays to you and yours. We are endlessly thankful for your unwavering support—whether through fostering, volunteering or simply cheering us on with likes and shares of posts like these. You make all of this possible! And as every dad joke goes around this time of year: see you next year for the next adoption update! (Get it? Because of the New Year!)

Petra is looking for an active family who can keep up with her playful spirit and shower her with love and attention.

Meet Miracle, a petite shy girl who is coming out of her shell more and more everyday. At first Miracle was terrified of staff and volunteers but now LOVES head scratches and affectionately chirps at her favorite people. Miracle is young and we believe she would just need proper time and space to adjust in a home and she could really thrive.

Gather ‘round for this week’s adoption tales—a true reminder that the actual magic of the season is love! As the holidays approach, we’re overjoyed to announce that three cats and two dogs have found their forever homes. These 5 furry friends are ready to start their next chapter just in time for the most wonderful time of the year. So, pour yourself a warm drink, cozy up with your four-legged companions, and dive into these stories that will brighten your day!

First up is the stunning black-and-white kitten, Zepplin! Arriving at HSEC as a stray with her siblings, this rambunctious bunch was ready to take on the world from day one. But Zepplin stood out as the calmer of the group—a true purr machine! The moment she laid eyes on someone, her little engine would rev up, and all she wanted was to be held and showered with love. So, when a family came in searching for a cuddly addition to their crew, we knew Zepplin was the perfect match. Now, she’s living her best life with two canine brothers and two human siblings to grow up with! With a household this lively, there’s never a dull moment. Congratulations, Zepplin!

Next up, we have the lovely Miss Biscuit! This shy and sweet girl came to us from a challenging situation—a hoarding house with over 200 cats. Understandably hesitant to come out of her shell, Biscuit often sought refuge in cozy hiding spots or the company of her feline friends. After some time at HSEC, we knew Biscuit needed a taste of home life to help her blossom, so she went into foster for a while! The transformation was remarkable, and not long after returning to the HSEC, Her new dad came in, searching for the perfect companion! He was immediately drawn to Biscuit’s fluffy coat and endearing eyes. After spending time together, he knew she was meant to be part of his life forever. Congratulations, Biscuit, on finding your perfect match!

Meet Tempest, the sweet and spunky gray-and-white puppy from our Halloween litter who just found her forever home—and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her! Tempest arrived at HSEC with her nine siblings and was always the first to dive headfirst into playtime. When a family came looking for the perfect companion to join their family dog and keep their daughter company while she was away at college, we knew Tempest was a great match. This goofy girl adored people (though dinner time was a close second!) and quickly won over her new family! Knowing Tempest was worth the wait, her new family traveled all the way from South Carolina to pick her up as soon as she was ready. Congratulations, Tempest! We’re so happy for you and your new family!

Next up is the adorable orange cat, Toof! This little guy came to us from the Pitt County Animal Shelter as a tiny kitten, no bigger than the palm of your hand. Even as he grew, Toof’s larger-than-life personality stayed the same, From daring leaps off his cat tower to intense toy battles and the fine art of splashing around in his water bowl, Toof made sure there was never a dull moment. After spending some time in foster care, Toof returned to HSEC just in time for the holidays. That’s when his new mom spotted him—and it was love at first sight! She didn’t need to meet any other cats to know Toof was the one. Now, this spunky boy has a forever home filled with love and adventure. Congratulations, Toof! We’re so excited for you and your new family!

Last but certainly not least, we have October—now officially named Milo! This sweet boy, also from our Halloween litter, stood out with his stunning champagne-colored coat, making him truly one of a kind. When Milo’s new family came looking for a furry addition, it didn’t take long for him to catch their eye—and we couldn’t be happier that he did! Milo has found his perfect match in his new human sister, who might be the sweetest person we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the moment they met, she was ready to bring Milo home without a second thought. She was so excited that she signed a copy of the adoption contract herself! Now, Milo has a forever family and a built-in best friend to grow up with! Congratulations, Milo! We can’t wait to see the adventures you and your sister will share as you grow together!

That’s it for this week’s adoption update, and what a heartwarming week it has been! From pets who’ve waited patiently for their perfect match to those who found their homes almost as quickly as they arrived, we’re so grateful to have been part of their stories. None of this would be possible without our incredible fosters, dedicated volunteers, and generous supporters like you! Thank you for making these happy endings a reality! Until next week, Happy Holiday season from everyone here at HSEC!
