The results are in and many of you all had some great guesses! Atlas is:

We have a special announcement! We have the most adorable puppies making their spooky debut this Halloween! We cannot wait for everyone to meet these adorable puppies! We are now accepting applications on these cuties!

Our adoption fee for dogs is $200. This fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip, dewormer, and consistent heartworm and flea prevention before leaving the facility.

Mister Meerkat is still looking for his forever home! Meerkat is an adorable tabby kitten who was abandoned on our property a few months back.🐾

This adorable tan tabby kitten has a heart full of love and a playful spirit to match! Whether chasing toys or curling up in a cozy nook, Meerkat brings joy and snuggles to everyone he meets. His fun-loving antics and soft, striped fur make him the ultimate cuddle buddy and playful companion. Get ready for endless purrs and lots of laughter with this little bundle of cuteness!

Meerkat is fully litterbox trained and up to date on vaccines. Our adoption fee for cats is $100. This fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip, dewormer, and consistent heartworm and flea prevention before leaving the facility.

Duckie is looking for her forever home! This pretty girl is came to HSEC a couple months back after being surrendered with her brother at Craven Pamlico Animal Services. We met Duckie at the shelter and absolutely fell in love with her, and knew that someone else would too! 🐾❤

Duckie is looking for a home that can dedicate a lot of time to her training. This pup is not only pretty, but being a 7 month old Belgian Mallinois mix means she is going to be a handful and a half. We are hoping that Duckie can find a home that is ready to work with her on her leash skills and manners. This pretty girl needs a lot of stimulation and attention, which is not a surprise considering her breed. We recommend that potential adopters who are interested in Duckie research a little bit about her breed before committing to her in the home.

Duckie does well on a leash, but is still working on her manners. We think that with proper training and a structured routine that Duckie can be house trained easily. Duckie is also still working on crate training, but does really well when given a bone in the crate.

HSEC invites you to guess the breed!

When a dog arrives at HSEC, our staff does their best to visually identify a breed to assign to them. More often than not, the dogs in our care are a mix of breeds and our 'label' is just our best guess. With many dogs having backgrounds unknown to us, it is hard to accurately pinpoint their exact breed(s).

Many of our pawrents have done DNA tests for their HSEC alumni since adopting and we want to share those with you!

Today, we have HSEC alumni named Atlas recently adopted in September! He is loving his new furever home. In HSEC's care, we considered him an American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. Now it's your turn! What breed(s) do you think Atlas is? Put your guesses below! We will reveal the results of his DNA test later this week!
