Do you know the signs of heat stroke? With the high temperatures here in Michigan, it is important to know the signs of heat stroke and what you can do to prevent it!
๐ฅHeatstroke can occur when the petโs body temperature rises to a dangerous level. Pets do not sweat to cool down and instead rely on panting and limited sweating through their paw pads.
๐ฅRecognizing early heatstroke signs is crucial for effective intervention. Some common signs include excessive panting, drooling, rapid heartbeat, lethargy or weakness, confusion or disorientation, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or collapse or seizures.
๐ฅ If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, immediate action is critical. First, move your pet to a cool, shaded area or an air-conditioned space. Then, reach out to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital or your primary care veterinarian for further evaluation and care.
